With the available data from "Shockwave, Part II", are we able to calculate these specifications of the D'Kyr-

a. Height
b. Width
c. Length?

You misspelled "D'kyr". And what does date have to do with dimensions?

I dunno, try comparing it to the 50m Defiant [Wink]

How do you pronounce that name? Sounds kinda dirty the way I'm saying it. [Wink]

When you type D'Kyr into the Yahoo search engine, you get some pretty fucked up stuff. Try it, you'll see.

Any pictures yet?

From the internet or from Shockwave?

I did a google search and found information on Kyrgyzstan, so no calculation of specifications here, but if you'd like to book a holiday...

Do I have to do everything myself!?

Very nice ship. If I were to guess, I'd say the D'Kyr is an older ship. No mention of any particular specific duty for this ship.

The other screenshots show two more Admirals. We get another mention of the "Command Council" as the ruling body of Starfleet.

Looks kinda like a sleek version of the Vhaklas. Does that central ring rotate or stay at that angle all the time?

Oh and btw, thanks. [Wink]

Well, at least we know where the Federation gets its penchant for zillions of ship designs.

My only problem with the Vulcan ships is the completely irrational complaint that they're all so big. The D'Kyr is about as large as the E-E from the looks of things, which just strikes me as odd.

On the other hand, it was a smooth re-use of the old T-whoever-lian plague ship model.

Although, looking at it again, I'm not so sure they do look very similar.

The D'Kyr ring is fixed in place.

Oh, okay, thanks. I tried looking in Google, but didn't find the name.

As for the two looking similar, I think the only real similarity is the flattish main hull versus the vague pyramid-shaped hull of the "usual" Vulcan ship. Were I to venture a guess, I'd say that perhaps the D'Kyr is actually an older ship type than the pyramid-hulled ring-warpers, sort of an Ambassador vs. Galaxy sort of thing.

Could the D'kyr be the Maymura-class that Archer mentioned in "Breaking the Ice"? IIRC he said something to the effect that he'd been on an older ship of that type, during his "friendly dinnertime chat" with Captain Vanik.

I just noticed something from Harry's screencaps -- I was too busy admiring the new model when I saw the episode -- The NX-01 is docked on the RING! I guess that nixes the idea of the entire ring being the Vulcan equivalent of a warp nacelle?

Posted by Harry (Member # 265) on :

It isn't docked directly to the ring. It's docked to the supporting structure that holds the ring. Not that much more different than say the torpedobay-docking bays on the 1701 refit.

That's Maymora-class. A possibility, to be sure.

And Guardian, you probably didn't find the name on Google because it's actually spelled Vahklas. [Smile]

Two larger pics of the ships can be seen on my page thanks to Trekconnection

From Starship Freak's site:
Mayomar-class

Once again, that's Maymora-class. I really wish we could eliminate all these widely-spread yet erroneous spellings of the Vulcan ship names.

For the sake of clarity and correctness:

It's also possible that we'll be seeing a 20th century Vulcan ship, the one which crashes in Carbon Creek in the 1950's.

Sukar Class? I hope that's a typo... because that's just "Surak" with the 'r' and 'k' reversed! [Wink]

Felix the Kzin: I couldnt agree with you more, but since I dont get to see the episodes until very late, I have to trust you guys with spellings and such [Big Grin]

That's what I was thinking, especially considering how often that happens in the Fact Files. [Smile]

Except that the Sh'Raan isn't Surak-class, is it? I thought it was a larger (though similarly shaped) vessel?

Posted by Dr. Phlox (Member # 878) on :

^ No, it's not, but it doesn't take a lot to get the Fact Files writers mixed up, especially since Vulcan ship designs look quite similar. The class was only mentioned once in the epsiode guide for "Fallen Hero", here's what it said;

quote:
"15. The Vulcan captain of the SH'RAAN appears onscreen in sickbay. He is offering ENTERPRISE the support of his SUKAR-class vessel's arsenal."

Eden FX has posted pics, and one of them is a rather nice shot of the D'Kyr

The upload version doesn't appear to work.

The image (along with many other neat ones) can be found if you dig around in here, though:
