You've already mentioned eveything we know (canonically speaking). Anything else is speculation...

If it's worth anything (and it really isn't), this planet was NOT mentioned in the October '02 Magazine article on Federation member planets.

The Denver was a transport ship that I believe struck a mine in the episode where Worf's spinal cord is damaged. Some doc tried to do some experiment by actually replacing the entire cord. Worf actually nearly died from the process, but survived due Klingons having redundant organs.

From my shiplist:
quote: U.S.S. Denver NCC-54927 Yorkshire-class
The Denver was transporting 517 colonists to the Beloti Sector on stardate 45587 in 2368, when the ship struck a gravitic mine left over from the Federation's war with the Cardassians. The ship sustained heavy damages, and crashed in the Mericor system. The U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-D subsequently arrived to assist the survivors. ("Ethics" [TNG])
Named for the state capital of Colorado. Class and registry given in the Star Trek Encyclopedia by Mike and Denise Okuda.
