After Jason told me that Future was doing a second line up of ships, a quick search on the net revealed this website. The ships aren't listed, but I see:

Jem'Hadar fighter
TOS Enterprise
Ferengi Marauder
USS Voyager
Excelsior-Class
Ambassador-Class
Nebula-Class
USS Enterprise-D
USS Enterprise-D (Tri-Nacelle version)
USS Prometheus
USS Enterprise-E (I think)

You evil man, at first glance I thought they were doing a second series of Futurama...
How large are those ships? Like postage stamps?

Posted by Mark Nguyen (Member # 469) on :

Here is a better look at them. They're probably at most 3-4 inches long and not to any particular scale, if they're anything like the anime trading figures they sell over there. Jason would have a field day. [Smile]

They're pretty but I'll use most of them for parts only: I model in 2500th scale and they're too small for aything but kitbashes.
Except the Jemmie fighter: that's too big.
The resin casts of the micromachines version is perfect though...

Thansk for posting pics: when I buy a set I'll likely distribute the extras around to everyone.

No Sovereign by the look of it, just an outline with some Japanese text in it. Not sure what that signifies. Anyway, I think I might be tempted by a Prometheus, currently I have a Nova that sits by my monitor. Guy I bought it off chucked a Klingon attack cruiser in for free, not sure what to do with it. Anybody want one?

Posted by Jason Abbadon (Member # 882) on :

The Sovvie is the "chaser" ship like the WArbird was in series one.
That means it'll cost a mint and be impossible to find outside of Ebay.
Just buy the Hallmark ornament- it's the same size and lights up and will still only cost $25.

Posted by Malnurtured Snay (Member # 411) on :

I'd happily take it off your paws, Lee.

Posted by SoundEffect (Member # 926) on :

Hey Jason, if you have any non-2500th ships to be sent away from your shipyards, I'd give some a happy home!

Posted by Aban Rune (Member # 226) on :

Aban wants Prometheus. I may just have to order a couple of boxes and hope I gets lucky.

Talk about Starships? Go to Starships.

Posted by Malnurtured Snay (Member # 411) on :

We're, uh, talking about toy starships, you realize.

I think I'll probably order two or three of the six-packs, and then trade or sell any extras. They're not out for three more months, so don't anyone fret, okay!? [Smile]

Posted by Fleet-Admiral Michael T. Colorge (Member # 144) on :

No, I want the Prometheus!!! I just ordered a gripload and will see what I get.

Posted by Jason Abbadon (Member # 882) on :

I'm suprised at the lack of alien ships this time: only the Jemmie bug.
I was hoping for a nice Bajoran or cardassian freighter.....mabye even a Hediki.

Stephen, I dont have any 1400th stuff just now....except somewhere I have a Constalation hull with no nacelles.
Somewhere.

Posted by TSN (Member # 31) on :

Last I checked, the Ferengi marauder was an "alien ship".

Posted by Jason Abbadon (Member # 882) on :

Well, yeah.
I meant a cool alien ship though.

Posted by Sol System (Member # 30) on :

Yeah, I'm not so sure that Star Trek product discussion belongs in this forum either.

Posted by Malnurtured Snay (Member # 411) on :

Well, yell at Tahna about that Sol. I figured since it was a talk about Star Trek toys/models, it was better suited for Gen Trek. Let's stop moving it though, please? Yes?

I really want an Akira ... oh well. How long has it been since the first release? Maybe we'll get one in six months to a year. Hey, I can dream.

Jason: do you have an extra Nova by chance ... ?

Nim: They're a very decent size, much larger than the Micro Machine models, and better detailed/sculpted. I've bought most of the first release models off of eBay, and their version of the Defiant is really spectacular. I've been able to get most for around $10 US including s&h, so you might have some luck off of that.

I don't see where I'm "yelling" at anyone. Just making an observation.

Posted by Malnurtured Snay (Member # 411) on :

I didn't say you were yelling at anyone, just that if you were going to, you should yell at Tahna since he moved it to this thread.

Aw, hell.

I LUUUUV YOU MAAAAAAN!

My only extra is a KBOP that I lost one of the guns to: you could battle damage it for kicks I suppose...

Posted by Malnurtured Snay (Member # 411) on :

ROFL. No thanks, but you could do a Jemmie Bug Fighter crashing into a KBOP as a little diorama idea ... just a thought [Smile]

I need help. This is my first time collecting Japanese Toys.

All the packaging is the same.

So instead of trying to communicate with the shop owner who doesn't know english, i'll ask you

Can I conclude that collecting these toys is like collecting baseball cards? It's a shot in the dark of what one is getting inside. Is there a possiblity of getting "doubles"?

I do not want to spend an equivalent to 7 dollars a shot getting multiple Galaxy Classes.

Posted by Ultra Magnus (Member # 239) on :

They are randomly distributed, yes.

The only way to ensure an entire set, I believe, is to buy a case.

But, buying two, you can run the risk of doubles.

Posted by Jason Abbadon (Member # 882) on :

Nope: I bought a case of series one and still didint get the Defiant, Reliant, warbird, Galor or DS9.

I got two Enterprises, Novas, KBOPs one Constalation two Bioships and a couple of VorCha's.
Boned, in other words.

Posted by PsyLiam (Member # 73) on :

And it's unrelated, but I got the kawaii-est little Japanese Soundwave-in-a-box. He transforms and has Ravage inside and everything, and he's actually smaller than an atom! Or not. But he is tiny.

I apologise for saying "kawai" too.

Posted by Mark Nguyen (Member # 469) on :

Do not apologise. Be proud you can say that word! BILLIONS of people on this planet lack the ability to do so. Be it genetic, societal, or annoying, this skill is rare and should be treasured.

Mark

Posted by TSN (Member # 31) on :

On the contrary, you should apologize profusely. You are a bad person.

Hey Snay: I found an extra Nova while packing up for moving!

Along with telephone#, SS#, sample of hand-writing, credit- and ATM-card numbers, PIN#s and favorite color.

It does look nice having a Nova on your desk. . .

Posted by Austin Powers (Member # 250) on :

Well, the Ferengi Marauder IMHO is a cool ship. In contrast to the Jem'Hadar Bug which looks like a fallen off hubcap!

Posted by PsyLiam (Member # 73) on :

My SyncMaster has a higher number than you!

And you lose marks for subtley putting your IPOD in the shot.

Posted by Austin Powers (Member # 250) on :

I guess you were not talking to me as I haven't got the slightest clue WTF you are talking about...

How is your computer area so... clean?

He watches less porn?

Posted by Cartman (Member # 256) on :

Ah, but observe how carefully composited the shot is, which means there's probably a huge mess sneakily hidden from view on the far sides of his desk. B)

I want to know what's that cylinder on the key-ring.
Dog whistle?
Crackpipe?

Hey, has anyone ordered anything from that site Mark posted a link to? I'm going to order three assortments from them in the next couple of weeks ... hopefully I'll get one o' each and some extras to sell on eBay.

Posted by Mark Nguyen (Member # 469) on :

My firends and I order from there regularly, and I think we've only ever had one problem in years of doing so. Recently a friend bought a box of ten Macross mini-figures where there were five individual figures, and ended up having two of each kind. Getting a box will almost certainly net you a full set plus extras.

Another friend went to Japan last month and found a batch of very similar mini models, and brought back a set of the J'H Attack Ship, Defiant, Nebula, and BoP. In Japan some people collect these things like mad, and the extras are often sold as mostly complete sets in comic shops and such, where my friend found his set.

How long do they usually take for shipping state side, Mark?

Posted by Mark Nguyen (Member # 469) on :

Living in Canada, I wouldn't know. [Wink] We usually get stuff in within a couple weeks.

Er, what? I totally missed all those comments about my desktop. Actually, I had cleaned up that day, but only because my wife is the messy one. And that cylinder on the keychain is a laser-pointer, it's for playing with the cats, they go mad chasing the little red dot that they can never catch! There's now an almost Pavlovian reaction with Dizzy, whenever she hears the keychain jingle she automatically looks at the floor to see if the dot will appear. . . 8)

I don't quite get the hang of it.

You pay 16.53 USD/13.05 Euros for what? 1 Model? One set?
Around 16 Dollars for ONE small ship seems rather expensive. For twice the amount I get an AMT 1400th scale Star Trek kit.

Or have I got the system wrong?
And what do you mean when talking about "buying a box"?

And does anyone know whether these models will also be available in Europe?

Thanx for the info.

Posted by Malnurtured Snay (Member # 411) on :

Austin ... it's $16.53 for a SET of SIX. As stated somewhat clearly ... the models are available ONLY in Japan, but you can order them from "Hobby Link Japan" and have 'em sent to you.

"Buying a box" ... they come in a "box" of six ships. They're randomly packaged - you can't specifiy what ships you want, and the individual boxes don't specify what ship is in it. It's sort of like trading baseball cards from gum sets ... you don't know who you've got until you open it up.

Posted by Austin Powers (Member # 250) on :

Ah, thanks for the info, Snay.

But that means that at least all six ships in the box will be different from each other?
Or could you end up with a box filled with six Voyagers???

Posted by Malnurtured Snay (Member # 411) on :

Not neccessarily. Very possibly.

That's why I'm going to order four boxes or so ... sell the surplus on eBay.

Posted by Mark Nguyen (Member # 469) on :

Or possibly to friends on Flare? Hm? Hm? [Razz]

Mark <-- Medically needs a Prommie, Amby, or Excelsie.

Posted by Malnurtured Snay (Member # 411) on :

Mark,

I'm sure we can work something out.

Posted by Austin Powers (Member # 250) on :

Sure you can get rid of them via ebay?

I have just had a look around for these things on ebay Germany.
Actually they don't sell very well. And looking at the close-up pictures of the models I can see why.

Most of them are really crappy - especially the paintjob/decals!

And most of them are in 2500th scale. A bit small for my liking.
