Fotopic now has screencaps!!!

So that is all Ive seen. But man what great pics of ships!!

The big new one is apparently aquatic. And I see several types of ships!

Those of you who have actually seen it, help me identify, please...

Neat! When the aquatic ship apparently gets caught in a sphere-disturbance, its hull ruptures and the water gushes out into space...

Poor Aquatics...

Hmm...spoil myself now or wait 12 hours and just watch it then!? I'll wait.. [Big Grin]

So, is this going to be the "official" Flare thread for this episode orr what?

Why not? Im number one!!!!!!!! (No, not Riker...)

So, they spent 42 minutes just... counting down? [Smile]

Posted by TheWoozle (Member # 929) on :

Heh, like that episode of MASH, where they had one hour to save a wounded man's leg and had to get a graft from another unit. The clock in the corner of the screen counted down the time in quasi real time.

This can't be the official thread! Where's the witty title? [Razz]

$$ Theres no use crying over spilled...water? Countdown spoilers beware!!

For understanding this cleverish joke on an old saying, check out the aquatic ship exploding!

Good enough?

That aquatic ship looks like the Whitestar.

Yeah, you'd think people would grasp the format by now, after three years...

Suggestions:
$$ Penultimate Tech! ["Countdown" Spoilers]
$$ Torturous Tech! ["Countdown" Spoilers]
$$ Interrogative Tech! ["Countdown" Spoilers]
$$ Six...Five...Four...Three...Tech! ["Countdown" Spoilers]

I mean, even $$ Counting-down Tech! ["Countdown" Spoilers] would be acceptable... [Razz]

Yes. That one.

But add "Two," as this is the second to last episode of the season.

You ought to indulge in a minor abuse of your administrator powers to change it. For a good cause. [Big Grin]

More of a Zero Hour-Spoiler, but did anyone else spot the Midas array in the promo for next week's episode? Another ship fires at it (it's right after the bit with T'Pol).
Maybe it's supposed to be some sort of orbital defense system?

Posted by Dukhat (Member # 341) on :

Wow, I never realized that the Midas array was over two hundred years old... [Wink]

As for Starship Freak's initial question:

Xindi ships-

1. Reptilian = Son'a-like ship
2. Humanoid(primate) = Degra's ship & the ROTJ speederbike-like ship
3. Arboreal = ship formerly used by the Arkonians
4. Insectoid = three-pronged ship
5. Aquatics = new, very large, WhiteStar-like ship

One has to wonder though...if the Xindi become members of the Federation, and their ships & tech are way ahead of Earth's then why do Federation Starfleet ships tend to look like Pre-federation Earth ships?

Who knows? Vulcan technology is better too, but you don't see Vulcan designs in Starfleet

Posted by TSN (Member # 31) on :

Well, it turns out that they were using Hoshi to figure out the Aquatic launch code.

Also, Major Hayes died during the rescue. A Reptilian fired a weapon through him just as he was beaming out. It was hard to tell what kind of damage it caused. When he materialized, he immediately grabbed his chest and fell down, but it didn't look like there was any external wound. However, when he was dying in sickbay, there was a big blood-spot on the front of his shirt.

Apparently, the Xindi Weapon has a pretty strong shell. On the way to Earth, the Insectoids starting expressing dissent, so the Reptilians fired on their ship, and it crashed into the Weapon, with no apparent damage thereto.

After your little lashing at me for forgetting a cool line, Im almost afraid to ask a following-up question [Wink] Ok, so the whitestar is aquatic, but these little darlings at bottom left?
aquatic?
Also:
humanoid speederbike?

Posted by TSN (Member # 31) on :

I think the gold-colored ships across the middle of that first picture are Arboreal, and the two silver winged ones are Aquatic.

Wow, someone actually changed my title. I realize I wasnt as witty as all of you guys, but I just didnt think of it actually. Have any moderator actually changed a title before this? Why this particular thread, so it can comform? Do I have to ask permission for my title next time I want to post a thread so I dont offend someone by not paying attention or being smart?

And you, whoever you are, since it was so important to you, at least change it so it looks like all the others! You forgot these little buggers: $$

Maybe the end of season 3 of Enterprise stopped or interrupted their technological progress, and Earth and the others had time to catch up. Furthermore, we don't know when they joined the Federation. Maybe it wont happen until after the TNG era. So, even with the Xindi evolving at a normal rate, a multi-racial alliance could progress much more quickly over the course of a century or more.
And keep in mind that we haven't seen Zero Hour yet. Only Future Guy knows what could possibly happen to them... [Wink]

Your deductive skills are the stuff of legends, sir.

- Archer, Trip and T'Pol had an interesting conversation on what they want to do when this is all over. Archer expected to return to his 'original mission'. T'Pol expressed an interest in joining Starfleet (!). We might get to see T'Pol in proper uniform next season?

- The Aquatics have learned English. At least, they now have their translators set correctly.

So it would be safe to say that they were not the ones who sent the probe that devistated Earth in "The Voyager Home"... [Wink]

There was a really weird MACO thing going on again. We got a VERY clear shot of the man's tag, and it says "E. Hamboyan" (or something), but Hayes calls him "Kelly"! And for a second time in a row, the same female MACO is shot down!

That aquatic ship is freaking HUGE! Its design aesthetic seems to fit a water-dwelling species very well. It didn't remind me of the Whitestar, but it does look similar to the Relativity to me.

So, does the Xindi weapon have wipers so they can clean up that bug splatter? [Big Grin]

Having not seen it, how huge are we talking?

Damn...! Is that the NX entering it or something in the last shot?

Also, how do you suppose they constructed it? Underwater?

Exiting, actually.

Anyone wanna scale that sucker, BTW?

That thing should be at least as big as a Warbird (which is something between 1,000 and 1,300m, according to various sources.)

Funny thing, when I was first trying to read that MACO's nametag (he was in "North Star") I decided it either read "Hammond" or something like "Hambone" - I chose the former because it sounded slightly more likely. Hamboyan? What is that? Armenian? Irish?

Additional notes:

- Starlog: February 13, 2154 (nearly 8 months in the Expanse)

- Porthos!

- Reptilians utilize some sort of parasite to force Hoshi to decrypt the Aquatics codes; think Ceti Eel.

- Enterprise intends to use a 'deflector pulse' and target at the the 'interspacial manifold' of 'Sphere 41', a key link in sphere network.

- In the big fleets we have:
*12 Arborial/Primate vessels (~3 destroyed)
*6 Aquatic vessels (~3 destroyed)
*~12 Reptilian/Insectoid vessels (~9 destroyed)
