Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone had any reference photos, or better yet blueprints or schematics, of the Excelsior's original bridge from Star Trek III. I seem to recall it being very different from the more familiar Star Trek VI version, but haven't been able to source any pictures or schematics at all. Can anyone help me?

Cheers,

Kaster

If only there was a thread dedicated to just these kind of requests right beneath this one.

Point taken.

In the eye, yes?

I see this forum is as welcoming as most when a newcomer doesn't read through every single post ever before daring to write anything... I don't know how to delete threads, if I did I'd have got rid of this and posted in the other place. As I said, point taken, my mistake. No need to be a pain about it.

It is the only way a newbie will learn anything. This conditioning is designed to bring discipline, and respect for the authority of the collective bitchiness that is Flare. We all had to pay our teh "fuck?"ing dues.

True, and I understand it as a member of many other forums... I did run a search first as it's easier to comb through search than a whole page of posts... as I said, my bad, I'll try to do better in future [Smile]

Won't help a bit. The transition from kicked-in-the-groin newbie to a bitter old regular is instantaneous. There is no interval of amicability in between.

Which is sorta weird. *I* certainly remember none of this hostility from my rookie years. Were people really that different in the past millennium?

Oh, well. *Trek* was different then. There being wondrous things that had not been revealed to the outside-Paramount-backstage world yet, questions that had not been asked (more than perhaps thrice), screencaps that had not been posted anywhere. The world was so *young*!

And now we have "Enterprise". Where's a Genesis device when you need one?

You first came here when I was on sabbatical, Timo. That's why you got off so lightly. 8)

Also, we've had to deal with a string of DARKSTARs and the like since. Tolerance lessens.

Great idea!!

It's "lessons", you illiterate clot.

No, it's obviously "lessens". As in, decreases. Muppet. [Razz]

This is all very well and good, but there's still the issue of pictures of the Excelsior's original bridge to consider... [Wink]

Yah, unless I meant 'lessens' as in "Our tolerance lessens the more we have to deal with moronic fanboy crap. And incidentally, people who correct my spelling."

Ugh.

Okay, so I'm a newbie.

I join Flare and start newbiing around and I am thinking about the Excelsior bridge in TSFS. Why? God only knows.

I hop into the S&T thread and there, as plain as day, is a thread called REQUEST - The Definitive Starship Bridge Screencap Collection Pages: 1 2 3 4 ... 15 16 17, a 250 post-pushing thread that has been within the top 5 topics of S&T forum all summer/winter.

[I just can't see how the latter can be justified with what is found in the former...]

Seeing that topic title, in itself, even at first glance, would require neither reading every single post ever in Flare, much less needing to use the search feature, much less posting a thread with a nearly identical title/topic! It's understandable if it was discussed a year ago in a completely unrelated thread, but my God...this is worthy of a stick in the eye.

P.S. Pictures are on the way if you still haven't managed to read the above aforementioned thread.

I wasn't interested in screencaps, though. I was by far more interested in plans or blueprints. Which that thread doesn't explicitly mention. In fact I find screencaps to be a poor way of imagining a bridge layout. I added it as an afterthought. I'd much rather have schematics. Which that thread doesn't explicitly mention. Which would explain why it didn't grab my attention. Because the thread title didn't mention what I was after.

I'm pretty sure we discussed plans of that bridge early on in that thread, and, as I recall, there don't seem to be any around. I remember people referencing comic book pictures and what not.

I've already read the thread, so I'm not going back through it.

There is overhead shots based on caps in the works, that has been explicitly mentioned.
