Here is my 2500th USS Elkins with some minor refitting (adding a torpedo launcher and shutle bay mainly).

I think the Elkins is a pretty cool design overall if you consider that Starfleet would have followed up on Geordi's deflector weapon from BOBW and incorperated it into the next batch of prototype starships.
Even if it didint work on the Borg, it could probably still do a number on a Warbird or Jemmie cruiser.... [Big Grin]
Ideas?

That's best I've ever seen that ship look. Kudos.

Very nice model. Very ugly ship. [Wink]

Wow. It actually looks like a plausible starship! It looks almost acceptable from certain angles [Wink]

Great work!

Soundeffect is building one too: his will be an exacting replica of the studio model though and will retain the blue areas (wheras mine are grey).
Thanks for the comments....I feel all warm and squishy inside. [Smile]

Anything you'd change?
Ideas for this class' mission profile or do you think it was a "one off" ship built from desperation?

With Constitution Class secondary hull, I would think it was kind of desperate. Starfleet Engineers are gifted though... so the ship can work and fight... but never in a million years would anyone make that ship. It looks like it has two boobs when you have it face foward. But good model you built, especially adding the shuttlebay since where do the shuttles go.

Actually the only connie thing on her is the (scaled up) nacelles.
The secondary hull is built from a F-14 Tomcat model with the two engines facing forward as deflectors.
The Elkins' twin hulls with deflectors would be about the same diamater as the Connie refit's but are much longer and don't taper into a cone the same way.
It amazes me just how large the Intrepid class when compared to the Connie.
Mostly perception I know, but Voyager played down a bit as to her size and the Connie was (to me as a kid) just huge.
