Let us harken back to the Romulan War, whereupon the Daedalus class was still in the prototype stage and not ready for flight in 2156. The warships of the Romulan War follow a lineage of the S.S. Valiant. Here is the United Earth Defence Force, Advanced Patrol/Interdictor-151, Serial Number 56-042 "Tin Can".
For a larger, labeled picture click here. Opens in a new window.I plan to develop this further with good schematics and a rich history. The vessel is about 160 meters long.

I really like the design, Cargile. It's a very intriguing concept. Earth before the Federation. I'm just wondering, how's the work on the Indomitable coming?------------------ Risk is our business! Very nice work. It's an area of Trek nobody ever explores, even though it's one of the most interesting periods in Earth/Federation history.------------------ Risk is our business! That's what this starship is all about....that's why we're aboard her!"

Very nice work, Paul. I continue to be impressed by the sheer amount of detail that goes into these things. Two astronomers onboard? Sure, it makes absolutely perfect sense, but I would never have thought to include it.I eagerly await more views. ------------------ "I'll be the sky above the Ganges I'll be the vast and stormy sea. Impressive as always. Looks a bit like a B-52, but that's the earth forces design lineage.------------------ Brain. Brain. What is brain? (Kara the Eymorg, "Spock's Brain") www.uni-siegen.de/~ihe/bs/startrek/

The astronomers: Basicaly they assist the navigators and are authorities on interstellar bodies and phenomenon. Pretty obvious, huh? I wanted to whittle the crew down to the bare basics without intergrating career fields too much. I was going to make the commander the pilot, but I realized that in a combat situation, flying the ship and making tactical accessments and commands could become overwhelming. Now the commander sits back between the pilot and co-pilot, the most ranking between those four being the first and second officers.I'm not really sure of Earth Force lineage, but I did have the SS Valiant in mind. The B-52 mimicking gives this guided missile destroyer a bomber appeal, a smooth fusion of aviation and naval design. I admit, this has been one of the funnest ships to do, and I've aimed to make the webpage reflect the time period by using words than would be replaced by "warp" and "nacelle". And, no one wears Starfleet pajamas--er, uniforms, but flight-suits that can become pressure suits on a moments notice. The Delta Pavonis shipyards was the Antares shipyards until I did some research and discovered Antares is 520ly away. A little too far away.
