PS - Somehow, I accidentally updloaded the .bmp versions of two of these drawings. They're a meg each big, and we obviously don't need them. Whoever's in charge of tha sort of thing, please delete the bitmaps. Thanks!

IMO the science-ship bridge is the best one. The science station with these stairs looks cool.

I'm actually rather fond of the SABRE-Class. Question: Does the Captain get to work the Mission Ops post? Or does he have his own control station?

Death before Dishonor!
However Dishonor has
quite a disputed defintion.
Anyway, to answer questions: yes, the Science-type bridge is based on the USS Br!ttain bridge, streamlining it somewhat. I've always liked how there were two forward-facing consoles beind the CO chair. On the Br!ttain, I think it was Engineering that was supposed to be back there, but i moved it to the front to distinguish between the people running the ship and the people running the science missions. The Mission Ops console is meant to be used when the starship is on station, and to monitor mission-specific sensors and equipment. It would double as a Tactical console if needed, which it generally wouldn't be on a science ship.
The Escort-type bridge is what I'd imagine the bridge of a small ship built for escort and patrol duties would look like. Since the ship Captain would likely not necessarily be of Captain rank, it follows that he generally would be doing a lot of the shipboard stuff in addition to command duties. Thus, he gets his own console to sit at (forward of the M. Ops console) that combines the functions of Operations and Tactical, such that the CO can assist in those areas in combat. I'd gather that communications would be handled from there too. Since there wouldn't be much mission-specific stuff on a patrol or escort ship, the Mission Ops console is small and free-standing, sorta like the one Seven usually uses on Voyager's bridge. The mission specialist would use that when the ship is on-station.
Finally, the Explorer-type bridge is the one I like the least (and it seems to be shared here). I was partially inspired by taking a close look at the bridge of the USS Bozeman from "Cause and Effect". The only really notable feature is that there are consoles forward of the railing that separates the command section from the aft stations. I tried to replicate that sort of feature here in a pre-TNG, post-movie TOS Movie era - not to much avail, since I dislike bridges with lots of free-standing or free-sitting consoles. Like the Sovereign-class bridge. Yuck.

The main change that I like about this are the twin tactical stations. I would even go so far as you say that these are placed better than the defiant's, since these have superior vision of the main view screen, and give the user (or anybody else on the bridge) the feeling that the person manning it has a position of power, which they do!
The engineering console is also is a better position than any previous bridge layout I've seen, though on a explorer I would rather the mission ops stations be located forward so the captain doesn't have to be possessed by the devil to look at the ops people while sitting.
Just my personal opinions. I have to say I admire your....boredom, because I assume you sketched these in a very dull and long class, yes?

Yup. Long, boring grad classes are quite a lot like long, boring undergrad classes used to be.

This is a bridge for USS Akureyri, a Minerva-class destroyer that's commanded by one of my soulbonds, CDR Brynja Sigmundssdttir. Because she IS a destroyer, she's more combat-oriented in the layout, thus the twin tac stations. I always liked the TMP style of dedicated "arcade game" station & thought it needed to make a comeback. The conn & ops stations are based on chairs thy have at my local library: nice, soft, comfy, with a little full-width deskpad that swings out from the side; you need to see them in person to really understand. The MSD flanks the main viewscreen, and on the opposite side is a "full bridge" tactical display, allowing anyone on the bridge to examine battle data during engangements; it's especially useful in fleet actions, which the class is outfitted for with fleet C3I capabilities. The overall moduel shape is a somewhat flattened version of the movie-era module.
This is the layout for USS Gaia, a New Orleans-class ship from another sim. It too was a fleet C3I vessel & was attached to Starbase 22 in orbit of Axanar, placing it near both the Romulans & Klingons (at least for us). I had to lay it out along the general lines of the Galaxy-class bridge module, but with a different internal layout.
I also have engineering layouts for both & sickbay for Gaia.

Worf: "Little? It's 170 meters long."
Riker: "Don't be rediculous, Worf, everybody knows, after careful study of certain screencaps, that its under 120 meters long."
Worf: "I suppose now you'll tell me it is a Valiant Class vessel?"

Anyway, I like the Gaia bridge - the multi-tiered approach is something I've never really gotten a hold of. But where're the tactical stations? Who gets to shoot?
As for the first one, it seems a little retro to be used on a TNG-era ship.. But the dual video-game consoles are nifty. It's a little crowded at the back, though; are you sure you need two heads back there?

Mark: on Gaia, Tac I & II are flanking the viewscreen, the forwardmost ("southernmost?") stations. As for Akureyri, the module design choice was partly based on the parts I used for the model. The reason for two heads? There's only one toilet in each room. Who wants to wait to piss?

The tac officers may not get a very good view of the screen, though... But I like the idea of consoles flanking the main viewer like that. A similar thing is seen in the first design pass or two on the E-E bridge. Consider me inspired.

Could anyone be kind enough to tell stupid little me how to load images on here? I'd like to get some of my stuff looked over by you people - as you seem to know your way around a starship, whereas my parents and friends haven't a clue. Thanks!
Browse your hard drive for the pic you want to upload, select it, and hit "Upload". You should be taken to the Parent Dir. Copy the URL of your image and paste it into your post. At least that's how I do it, but I'm sort of backwards, so someone may be able to tell you how to actually get the pic to show up in the thread...

Thanks to Fabrux as well. Now, would anyone want to redo the Transport and Escort bridges? We'd be in the money then.
And Fabrux, if you ASDB guys would like to use any of this stuff for your ships, I'd be willing to let 'em go.
