How come you're redoing the Eclipse?
I'm just asking because I think the original was a very cool looking design that obviously had a lot of effort put into it. But since you are redoing her, what's being changed?

The original Eclipse is/was rather out of date by today's standards. Whenever I look at her old self, I actually cringe. Her lines were bulky, the lines themselves were thick and ugly. She was still a work in progress, and I always planned on getting back and updating her.
Now I have.
But you wanted to know WHY I did it now?
Because, she must be finished if she is to be made into a real ship...
This is only an initial low-poly mockup concept model. =D

I've redone my Mustang class about 6 times so far. It looks SO much better then the original (even though I actually only have copies of the 3rd, 4th, 6th, and 7th left. The first ones have been lost )

You have to keep in mind that when TPTB design an important ship (ie: Voyager), there are dozens of passes at the ship before the final design is found.
This is the 3rd pass on the Eclipse, and I believe it to be final. All things considered, it HAS taken 7 years to get it this far. I've redrawn the thing like 5 times... Dozens of improvements.... I should dig up a pic of the original Eclipse concepts, I still have everything...
