After brushing up my Oberth mesh, here's a quickie of the stricken Pegasus entering the asteroid field (just experimenting with getting a decent cloaking effect).

it looks good! i think that the ripples should be bigger, but i might be remembering incorrectly. well regardless, it looks nice.

A pic with no ship at all, being totally cloaked? Now I didn't think of that. It could've been a good laugh.

The ripple perhaps could be wider, but I'm still experimenting. (You may notice in this picture that the lighting is slightly backward..)

Here's an example of just that. You could tell that the artist in question spent quite a bit of time on the design!
