If a link needs revisioning it will be put here also. I renamed it, partially because what started out as a Centaur minus the weapons/deflector pod and two additional nacelles on top has changed drastically. For those who didn't read the last threads, it is a ship that can do almost anything. It can be outfitted with additional sensors, weapons, caro pods, and even a cloaking device for Starfleet Intelligence. It was designed to work with the Ambassodar family, so many are still in service.
(Moderators, please close the New York Class Revision thread. Thanks.)

Your ship is looking pretty interesting, but...

Do yourself and us a tremendous favour and sign up for an account with either Brinkster or Host.sk.

Why? Is it not coming up? It works for me...
Posted by Dat (Member # 302) on :
I've got no problems either. Toph, just why do you want him to use one of the servers you suggested?
Posted by Vice-Admiral Michael T. Colorge (Member # 144) on :
Nice, but does that mean your ship comes with a Pot Deck?
Posted by Samuikaze (Member # 829) on :
The first image comes up. The 2nd and 3rd I'm getting this:
Sorry, but until Topher tells me how to do it, you have to cut and paste the URL. So how do ya like them?

Well then. Brinkster used to allow links, I think. Looks like you'll have to go with Host.sk. Have fun.

ROTFLMFATR, don't speak Slovakian.
BTW,w hat about the ship? That's what i want to know. Free websites are second.

Brinkster still does allow links. I can see those images fine and I just posted some images from my Brinkster site at another forum and they worked fine.
Posted by The Defiant (Member # 818) on :
Um, could you tell me how?
And what about the ship?
Posted by Malnurtured Snay (Member # 411) on :
You need to use the image codes. Use the brackets, the one at the beginning of the URL gets IMG, the one at the end gets /IMG ...
Posted by The Defiant (Member # 818) on :
But the image screws up page width, and it would take a whole page to post all of them. I really want to know about... THE DAMN SHIP!!! I need an excuse to be on the computer cause of my wife.
Posted by Ferg (Member # 828) on :
Calm down man. The ship looks great. I like it. Happy now?
Posted by Topher (Member # 71) on :
Yes, it does look good.
And you don't have to learn Slovenian. Just use an online dicitonary to get the form field headings when you register and you'll be fine.
Posted by The_Tom (Member # 38) on :
Slovakian. I mean, who the "fuck" do you think you are, Topher? George W. Bush?
Posted by The Defiant (Member # 818) on :
Well, I don't want to bother looking up one. I think that what I have will be fine. Are there any improvements you want on the ship? And it is better than the first( [ June 29, 2002, 19:24: Message edited by: BWC ]
Posted by Topher (Member # 71) on :
I'm pretty sure it's Slovenian Posted by The Defiant (Member # 818) on :
Well, it somewhere in Europe. I wish it was Dutch, because that I can translate. Oh well. AT least they will come up (damn you prohosting!). Enough about websites, I want to know about the ship, mostly because I'm bored. BTW, I am going to check Host.sk out.

No matter the host or the language, the ship is way cool now! The hull finish ain't exactly an Excelsior copy-paste, which I consider a major plus. And the more detailed and restyled nacelles look awfully cute.
Perhaps the big cavity between the aft hulls could still be filled with something...? The ship looks structurally weak somehow, like a kitbash that works fine when made of light plastic parts but not if reproduced full-scale with duranium structures. The space between shuttlebays could plausibly be a big cargo hold - perhaps you could put some structural supports on the centerline and then stack some cargo containers there?

Ok...I'll take a stab at this. I agree that there definitely needs to be something between the shuttle/cargo bays in the aft part of the ship. A cargo hold makes sense. Details like small viewports, airlock hatches and other little greebles could abound.
I'm also not sure about the nacelle struts. They look thin. I think if they weren't curved as much and if they looked a little thicker, I make dig it more.
The forward section looks pretty decent though. You might thicken up some of your outlines and deatil lines, though.
Posted by The Defiant (Member # 818) on :
I can't do a detailed revision yet, until I can figure out what I want to do. Maybe if the warp nacelle struts were just straight out and not visible from the side. I was thinking of a a raised deck out of the bottom shuttle bay thing, you know what I'm talking about, with a photon torp. launcher above, connecting the two with four struts. I'll get to work on it. I was also thinking of doing something different with the nacelles, what do you think?

Just so that all of you know, the only originality is Defiant's arrangement of the parts (and even then the statement is a stretch, 'cause the arrangement is supposed to be New York class - someone else's idea). Otherwise, it's a kitbash from Bernd's Minsk class or whatever he called it.

You know Dat, the ship I based it from is a radical departure from mine. Heck, it's not a kitbash of the same ship! And I'm pretty sure Bernd said it was ok if I did kitbash. I may be wrong on that.

Defiant, I never said that nothing was original. I DID say the arrangement of the parts were orignal...and then I admitted that what I just said may be a stretched statement, but I never fully retracted what I said. Also I never said you were stealing someone else's "designed parts". It's fine if Bernd said you can do it. I never said that you were doing it without Bernd's approval. All I said was that the parts were from Bernd's USS Minsk design. My intention was to point out to others that you did not create the parts from scratch as others may be believing.

Oh, I misunderstood it. Sorry, Dat.

instead of making us copy down the URL, why cant you just follow the webhost's terms of service and place the image on a page that we can legally link to?

I'm too lazy to do that. Do it for me. How do you like the ship?

Get up off your lazy ass for once and do something instead of moaning and complaining and trying to get others to do the hard work for you.

BTW, I can't decide if it would look better with the supporting pylons between the deck in the middle or outside. I was thinking of planting a little bit of secondary hull into the lower saucer for something like a deflector housing. You think that would be a good idea?
