Those of you who remember my oh so hysterical Charybdis prank may be interested to know that I've designed these charming EVA pods for to be carried aboard the I'll fated craft.
Incase your wondering, I stole the basic hull shape from Masao's Puffin fighter.

On a more philosophical note, are the names directly from the ducks or from the droids?

I'd have to say the droids, although I didn't have the presence of mind to check to see if the correct names were used with the correct colours in "Silent Running".

Thanks, originally I was going to use the names of the pods from 2001, but I could only remember "Lucy" and at the time I couldn't be bothered to flip through the book and find out what the other two were called.

Beautiful stuff, just beautiful...
So, how does one embark/debark these babes? Does the cockpit canopy hinge open? Are there extending ladders for exit? Or is the golden thing at the bow a door/docking ring?
And what's the scale?
Next, you might want to do the "shuttle" the crew took down to Planet Royale - the one that apparently carried the ENTIRE crew at once.

As I recall, the method the aliens used to transport the ship killed everyone aboard except for Colonel Richey, which is why they felt compelled to build the habitat in the first place. I think.

As I remember, they were dark red, hunter green, & sandy mustard. But it's been like 5 years since I've seen them. quote: ...originally I was going to use the names of the pods from 2001, but I could only remember "Lucy" and at the time I couldn't be bothered to flip through the book and find out what the other two were called.
Not "Lucy." Anna, Betty, & Clara...Pods A, B, & C.

That is indeed a docking ring/entry hatch on the bow. This is partly a nod the "Enterprise" inspection pod and the later TMP Travel pod as well as the real world Apollo Command Modules.

I'm not entirely certain, but at my last rekoning this was roughly it:-

What? all 15 of them? It's been a while since I've seen the ep (coz it's crap) so I'd like to see a copy of the script to confirm that if anyone has one.
I did have an idea about being able to convert these EVAPs into drop shuttles by removing the main RCS block/manipulators, bolting on a pair of wings and screwing a nose cone over the airlock.
It seamed more practical to me to have 3 multi role vessels on a ship where space is at a premium, that a bunch of specialist craft that'll get used just the once and then dumped as dead weight.
Still, I think it'll be a bit of a push to get 5 persons in each of these things and they'd have to be quite desperate...perhaps most of the crew were in cryo at the time? I did design the Charybdis with a pair of Cryogenic escape pods, based on the theory that conventional pods couldn't support the crew long enough to be rescued when their out near the heliosphere.

I did try doing a yellow/mustard version, but it didn't look all that good so I decided to go with the proper Disney colours.

Good thing I didn't trust my memory I have a niece called Lucy, thats probably how that name got stuck in the ole noggin.

But there weren't 15 people to shuttle down. Colonel Richey was the sole survivor.

If that is the case then one of these babies should do the job nicely. Still, if anyone has access to the script or can point me in the right direction, I would like to check for sure just so there can be no misunderstanding.

There's a copy of the TNG Companion in my uni's library. I'll take a look tomorrow, if you haven't found out by then.

The only thing in the Companion is the mention that an early draft of the script had 7 crew; no mention of how they got down to the planet.
