Is that a little Spitfire about to take off in the forward saucer?

the profile looks more like a BF 109, to me. it doesn't have an underslung intercooler, or a radiused rudder. now, it really doesn't look like a BF 109 either, but definitely more than it looks like a Spitfire.

Its a wonder we've never seen a view of the Cutaway that moves backwards and forwards through different planes of the ship... like in that view you only see the very middle (I'd say) of the ship. What about the more lateral 'planes' of the ship?

sweet.. this is related to a project i've been thinking of doing.
schematics of the new Excalibur (from New Frontier).. its Galaxy-class, except a highly modified new-build. presumably it has continuum safe warp drive, quantum torpedoes, holographic communications etc since it was built after the last seasons of DS9. Plus it has warp nacelles built into the saucer for multi-vector capability.
it'd be interesting to redraw some Galaxy specs to show these changes.
