Hello.
I made an Klingon cruiser based on the klingon ship from the ENT episode "Marauders".
 -

What do you think about it?
Note: It's my first klingon ship!

Very nice and it looks correct with the episode.
Too bad Eaves' influence is so aparant in all the alien ships for Enterprise
The Nacelles look alot like both the Karemma and the new Warbird.
Lobo, you know your stuff, why not alter the ship to a slightly more TOS look?

It's too bad the ships look like they were designed by the person who designed them? Sensical!

It's too bad all his ships tend to have the same shapes. No disrespect, but those nacelles scream John Eaves!

Nice looking ship!! Do you plan to make any other views?

You know I was just thinking about Klingon ships. How Klingon ships (as we've seen have hardly changed).

Maybe it's because the Klingons took that basic K'Tinga design (seen in Unexpected and beyond) from the Hurq? I'm assuming that is when the Klingon civilisation got exposure to warp technology.

Ah i see. I wasn't a good idea.
But thanks. [Smile]

I assume you're still working on the deuterium tanks?

Posted by Lobo (Member # 669) on :

Hmm ok.
First i was trying to made an schematic of the klingon ship from "marauders" but that failed(because i had only low quality screen shots).
Then i got the components(the nacelles...) and designed this ship.
Should i put the tanks on the ship?

Lobo, it was a good idea. It's a nice looking ship. It just a pity Eaves had to design the original ship the way he did... with... those... nacelles! [Wink]

The tanks look very much like a retrofit to the ship - but I think that a version with tanks on would look really nifty.

Incidentally, it's pretty rare in Trek that we get to see a ship that carries cargo on the OUTSIDE of the hull proper. Another example was the ECS Fortunate last year; if only we could get more looks at Earth tech.

The nacelles look like they belong in the Dominion War.

That's because the almost perfectly match the Keramma freighter that Eaves designed.

I like the idea if Klingon designs being inspired by the Hurq......It'd be cool to design a Hurq ship and make it look really non-Klingon, but with the same overall shape and nacelle configuration.

Actually, saying that - did Eaves/designers just manipulate a CGI Karemma vessel (presumably the one from A Time To Stand) (Or wasn't there one made for Starship Down) and manipulate it into the Klingon ship we saw in Sleeping Dogs?

Funny as that is two episodes existing in the atmosphere of a gas giant!

For chrissakes, Andrew, they're totally differently shaped designs. And the Karemma ship was a model.

Uh, no?

Curse my metal fingers, I wasn't fast enough!

Also, my fingers? Not metal.

Hey Tom, sheesh. The Karemma vessel still had that baisc klingon-y design. Heavey rear - neck then front - with nacelles in the same postition.

PLUS I believe the scene in A Time (The Bajoran Blockade) had a CGI KAREMMA VESSEL. (Even though it might not have been Karemma controlled at the time).

I'm almost certain the Bajoran scene was done with physical models, since I don't think any Bajoran CGI was ever done, and as the Karemma ship would have to be modeled computerily, it would not be significantly cheaper or easier than just designing a new ship.

Or do they have some fancy scanner these days that does that? I am out of my element.

No, but it is easier to build a good 3d model that you already have the blueprints for, than to invent one completly from scratch.

There is defiantly a CGI Karemma ship knocking around, judging by some still shots that have shown up in the fact files which are defiantly not of the model.
It was probably built for one of the calendars.

It's quite likely the Karemma ship was always and only CGI. In "Starship Down" the scenes inside the gas giant atmosphere used a CG Defiant and attack ships (done by VisionArt), so it stands to reason that the Karemma vessel was CG too.

Thankyou Dax, I knew I didn't dream that.

A ST: Voyager episode showed that vessel in the background... I think it was when Paris and Torres got married after a race.

Quite impressive, Lobo. [Big Grin] [Big Grin] Have you considered designing John Eaves original klingon ship that was intended for "Unexpected"? That is a cool looking ship and it would be great to see an accurate representation of his ship.

"Drive" And the Bajorans used one in an episode.

I just remembered something, the CG Karema ship had a differently shaped head than the original model, the original one had a two pronged nose while the CG one had a head section that looked more Klingon. I'm not sure how relevant that is, if at all.

Regardless of whether or not the "Starship Down" Karemma ship was CG, the later model would be new due to the differing 3D software being incompatible. Hence why ships like the Defiant and others were modeled from scratch for "Sacrifice of Angels".
