So I liked that planet - and then I like the ship the Niagra - then I liked that star I did so I HAD to include - it... if you're a bit worried about light-sources we can say there is a white-dwarf companion star to the right or there is a close - moon!
Plus I needed some more structures considering it might be at least a semi-important - strategic wise Planet.
Grazar - the Federation President in Homefront/Paradise Lost was a Grazarite. Supposedly evolved via a bovine evolution... It's quite a grassy planet!

Grazarires: they're whats for dinner! Pretty damn cool. One thing: (just a idea) Have you tried mirroring the layer with the planet in it? That would place the darkside of the world on the right and give more contrast to the ship and station (where's you get that?!)

OK here's a better version.
Warning the file's a little big - I can post a shrunken version if you want.

....and there was much rejoicing! I dig it! It's kinda like a scene from TWOK but updated for TNG and with pretty planets and ships.

That's great!
(although it's actually "Grazer" and "Grazerites")

ok, bugger!
heh
wait...

Hell, the Niagra even looks a lot like the Connie Refit from that angle. If the waiting ship were a Nebula and the planet a lifeless rock, it'd be a perfect illusion.

What's that Jason? Illusion? Wha?
*edit* Oh the TWOK illusion... gotya!
oh and I've got it right this time and there's a smaller version.
Can I move there?

There's just a lot of standing around!

Wow. Neato. What did you use to make the planet? It's very cool, but maybe a bit too clear for photorealism. Like not quite hazy enough. Like bring down the saturation on the green a few ticks or maybe add some yellows, oranges or browns. I like it though and the atmosphere is pretty great. Good clouds. It's just the highlights on the green might be too much and the shadows are a little too crisp for a grassy planet and methane (cow-fart) air. I could try some photoshop on it (no Liam-redness, promise), but I wouldn't want to step on any toes. Very nice work.

ballam, I gots lots of other ships and shots of Niagra if you wanna take a shot please feel free.

Ok, this kind of has to do with what I was talking about, but I don't want to upset either Jason or Andrew by taking liberties with what is obviously their hard work. Please, don't think I'm grandstanding, or trying to hork your flow or whatever. I just like these colors/this shading a little better. But I didn't do much. Just some selective color adjustment to the green and cyan channels and a little bit of blur on the mountains.
Again only for the purposes of explanation.

Wow Balaam I definately have to agree with you about the slight changes in the color scheme. The planet looks so much more real even with just those slight changes. I think the entire shot itself is gorgeous and my hat's off to Andrew on it.

NICE tweaking Balaam. Do as you wish with any of the pics I have posted: I'm very intrested in other people' take on my models. Andrew's work has been amazing and I'd love to see more people join in. The "Niagra" thread has access to over 150 pics for you to play with including thses P-Shop images by me and a few nice ones at the top by Andrew: http://www.picturetrail.com/gallery/view?p=999&gid=1755600&uid=657989 Posted by AndrewR (Member # 44) on :
