I've finished a model! I cants believes it!
This is the Lakat from Odyssey Slipways (available via the SSM store). I'm pretty sure this is an original design by Bernd himself: http://www.ex-astris-scientia.org/my_ships/lakat.gif
It's a pretty cool model with several subtle panel lines (which I went insane and added a lot of additional detail to).

The model does not come with decals so some pics show a second kit I built up without decals. The decals are just Cardassian pennants from the PNT generic pennant sheet and some black windows I whipped up on Adobe Illustrator.
Please pardon the poor photography, it's a cheapie digital camera- the contrast is not so stark on the actual model but the pics show little detail at all without it so high...
Questions, opinions and, of course adoration are welcome, as always.

That is a pretty good model, done realy well. Nice one.
Did anyone else ever do a good Cardassian design, other than Bernd that is?

What kind of ship is it? What niche does it fill that isn't already filled by Keldon and Hideki?

Lokks like an answer to the New Orleans class during their war with the federation. A frigate, in other words- something smaller than a cruiser but nicely armed for a ship of it's size.
The Dominion Wars computer game features several cool Cardie designs. And I've got a pair of smallish cardies in the works as well.

"The Birth of the Federation" game had a few good Cardie ships too, especially ones that would work as "early" cardie ships.

Very good work! And nice detailing. I always wanted to update this design because I liked the basic lines very much.
With your permission, I would like to add the pictures to EAS.

I'd be honored! I really dig this design of yours- the Cardies sorely lack for mid-size multirole ships. Here's a slapdash Photoshop composit for ya: http://pic90.picturetrail.com/VOL2210/657989/1146729/339198843.jpg
CHeck Drexler's new DS9 kitbash pixcs while you're here- good for EAS.

Thanks! And maybe I should update the drawings based on your model.

Speaking of that, there's one, the Telok-class scout, that's very similar to the Lakat:

Sounds like a plan- mostly I just referenced the Galor studio model and added a bunch of panels with paint masking- which is exactly what they did!
I did add some additional windows and a officer's lounge (to the bridge) to give a sense of scale- though smaller than a Galor, it's still a big(ish) ship with a sizeable crew.
