Or is it just like every other kids' show of the era, where they bash each other about a lot with lots of "WURGH!s" and "CRASH!es" followed by a hasty "Curse you, Autobots! You win this one!" and "Quick! He's getting away!"[/qb]
Throughout the original series, I don't think there were any Transformer deaths, but Transformers: The Movie was full of them. And only one of them was really undone later in the series, that being Optimus Prime.
Originally posted by Lee: [qb]And what does modern-day humanity make of all this? When random vehicles suddenly turn into robots and trash the surrounding environs? There's gotta be some serious collateral damage. . . [/qb]
Funny you should ask that in conjunction with TF deaths. Transformers: The Movie, which was released way back in the 80's, took place in the oh-so-futuristic year of 2005, and I think one could arguably make the case that some/all of the third season of the series took place in 2006. Anyway, one of the last American episodes was "The Return of Optimus Prime." In that episode, yet another Autobot-Decepticon battle causes massive collateral damage and seriously wounds/cripples a scientist's daughter. As revenge, the scientist uses the newly-rediscovered corpse of Optimus Prime as a trap to infect the Transformers with a plague that causes murderous rage and insanity. [/QB]
