As some of you movie go-ers may have seen recently, a trailer for FINAL FANTASY: THE SPIRITS WITHIN has recently been released. So I'm wondering, what does everyone think of it? And if you haven't seen it, go to The Final Fantasy Website to download it! This movie looks insanely awesome! I can't wait until Summer '01!

That thing is bloody awesome!!!

I'm not familiar with the games, so I'll ask: Does it have anything to do with the games? Is it a continuation of the stories told in the games? Are there characters that overlap?

Actually, none of the 9 games (so far, there are still 2 more in planning) have ever actually had the same story, characters, or even locations. Each one is a seperate entity. As for the movie, it is also a seperate entity, but it also doesn't follow the usual formula for the Final Fantasy games. For once, the movie takes place on Earth, New York specifically, in 2065. I don't think there will be as much magic in the movie as there is in the games.

Will there be swords big enough to shovel snow?

I hope this won't be like the other action movies that came and went. Like "Virus", "Deep Rising", "The Relic" or "Beowulf". I'm sooo tired of them bluescreen-flicks...

Well, I doubt that FF will use any bluescreens, considering the whole thing is CGI...

Or rather, it's all bluescreen!
