And boys and girls, THEY'RE ALL FREAKING RIP-OFFS!
The story line of Atlantas and the "technology" even the frikin' characters are rip-offs from the anime series "Nadia: The Secret of Blue Water" done by Gainex years ago!! Talk about copy cating to the extreme!!
And Final Fantasy? From the look of it, a bit of rip off from Star Ship Trooper movie and the cartoon. Although probably not as big a rip off as Atlantas.

Clue: Sucked
Street Fighter: Sucked hard
Double Dragon: Sucked even harder
Mario Brothers: God! Don't remind me!
Dungeons and Dragons: *cough* shit *cough*
Mortal Kombat: That reminds me! I have yet to bomb the movie studio that did that movie!
There are probably more that I simply didn't even think of yet. Judging by current trends both Final Fantasy, and Tomb Raider will probably suck major balls. Sorry. I went way off topis here....

Yes, the whole "Atlantis versus Nadia" thing has been done to death in the online anime community. It's far less of a ripoff than "Lion King," however....because both "Atlantis" & "Nadia" are based on "20,000 Leagues Under The Sea."
As for "Final Fantasy"...well, I was never into those games. My roommate is spudging his pants over it & I'm sure he'll be there opening day for it. I'll be in Atlanta being romantic. Good deal.
And, MIB, I think you forgot Wing Commander.
Final Fantasy the movie will pretty much have nothing to do with the games itselves.

If any one of you plan on checking out new Manga or Anime, check this one out first:
Jojo no Kimyou na Bouken
(Jojo's Bizarre Adventure)
It will pretty soon become the longest running Manga series in Japan. It's been out since 1987, and still kicking ass!

With regards to Final Fantasy; When are movie companies gonna relize that movies based on board/video games always suck?! Think about it.

'Final Fanatsy' has nothing to do with the videogames. The movie looks very cool, although I haven't got a clue what it is about
Is it being done by a US company? Or a Japanese company? Cause, if memory serves, all those other game to film things, even those based on Japanese games (like Streetfighter), were all done by US movie companies.
In the trailer for "Final Fantasy" the blaster sounds from the laser weapons of the enemy drones where the exact same sound of the plasma rifles in the beginning of "Terminator II". I guess it's in the movie as well, not that it's a big deal.
I have kind of photographic hearing so these idiotic facts stick on me like fly paper.
It can be a pain in the ass, but I've grown to understand that most people don't give a darse so I try not to tell anyone.
Certain sound effects seem to be in the public domain. Some of it's obvious, such as cartoons doing Trek spoofs having the original series bridge background noise playing (and phasers). There is more obscure stuff though. Laserbeak in Transformers regularly did a good impression of a TIE fighter, for example.
I'm going to cut your heart out with a spoon and make you eat it.
Actually, I thought it was a decent piece of film. Better than Street Fighter, of course.
Final Fantasy
The Final Fantasy series consists of many games, none with any relation to each other, and follows a certain "Magical" concept. FFVI had Espers, or Magic Creatures, FFVII had Materia and Mako Energy, and FFVIII revolved around Guardian Forces and Sorcery.
I'm really looking forward to Final Fantasy. It is indeed made by Square Pictures, which one can assume is part of SquareSoft, the company that creates these Final Fantasy Games. Hopefully, this movie stays true to its Final Fantasy roots and isn't the horror that most other Video game Movies are.
One person says that this movie is basically a cross between "Titan AE" and Harry Potter, though the Harry Potter part I can't quite figure out. Perhaps this is because [SPOILERS] one of the characters gets infected with someting which enables him/her to have abilities similar to magic.[/SPOILERS]
But that's what I think.
A lot of sounds are used in more movies/series. Things like doors sliding open and Mechs walking are some examples.
The second and third movies resembled manure, I haven't even seen the TV series and don't intend to, I think the movie people did what was expected of them with the first one.
The movies are awesome. But the problem is, they were made for fans like me. The first one was better for everyone cause it explained alot of the basic stuff. The second one didnt try all that hard, but for a die-hard fan like me, it all made perfect sence and were one of the best movies made... both of them.
When the third one comes out (yep, theres gonna be a third one) I'll be there opening day.
As for other video game based movies, i'm sure you think i'll bash them all, but nope. I enjoyed all of them. Street Fighter, Double Dragon, Mario Brothers, Wing Commander, Tomb Raider were all good movies to me. You just have to sorta lower your expectations to enjoy them. If I walked in that theater expecting a very deep movie, I would be let down. Walk in expecting a loose plot that give you the general idea, then a bunch of guns, fire, explosions, visual effects, and martial arts, you have yourself an enjoyable 2 hours.
And Final Fantasy definatly doesn't have anything to do with Starship Troopers.
One funky sound-copying thing I've heard is that, during M:I-2, when the cars pull up in Australia and the bad guy gives the girl one last chance to live, the background noise for when the cars are pulling up is the same noise heard at the beginning of Daft Punk's "Revolution 909" off their CD Homework.
