Does anyone else watch this, its on CN's Adult Swim Block.
Though i haven't seen it in its original Japanese, I have to say that the voice acting and dubbing is some of the best on television. The animation is fantastic, and the stories (though edited for nudity, etc.) isn't watered down filth like Pokemon or DBZ.

The last session was one of the best hours of animation i've seen in a long time.

I watched the entire DVD series. It is, without a doubt, one of my favorite series --not just anime, but EVER. I can't wait until the movie is released here.

There's 5 soundtrack CDs as well. I highly recommend them. Yoko Kanno's music has always been fantastic. I actually had 3 of the CDs before I'd even seen the show.

Hey, I like Pokemon.

Cowboy Bebop is very good, finished the whole thing a while ago. I remember seeing some of it dubbed, and it wasn't that bad. But dubbed is dubbed, I try to avoid that generally.

Anyone seen the movie? It was ok, I thought. Too much focus on Spike and not enough of everyone else, and it seemed more like a really long episode rather than a movie. Ala the first PatLabor movie.

Cowboy Bebop CDs are annoying, they release all the vocal tracks except the ending on the first three OSTs, and you have to buy the fourth CD for what is typically included on the first and/or second CD. It's forcing you to buy the fourth CD, which is mostly remixes of BGMs in the previous tracks that I can live without. Shimatta.

Anyone else think that Spike's fighter (swordfish i think?) looks a lot like a naboo fighter from episode one backwards? or maybe i'm just high again.

I can see that. Kinda...

Faye's Redtail kinda reminds me of a Workbee or that fandom Hopper. Must be the bubble cockpit.

I've seen most of the episodes. I really do like the series. I'm just left with one question...

he died. i mean he got shot (a couple times possibly), cut with glass, stabbed by a throwing knife, and sliced by a sword. Even bounty hunters have limits.

Yes, it's quite clear that Spike died. The previous injuries didn't kill him, Vicious did. Like the bad, madman said, he was the only one that could kill him.

($)SPOILERS!($)

I am afraid to believe that Spike did indeed die. The movie is set like three episodes before the last episode, so that leads me to believe that Spike died. All in all I absolutely loved the series. It is done very well in american overdub and the Japanese version is just as great (if not better).

For those who cares, I have the movie, and it's way better then the series in my opinion.

I'm consider opening an ftp site with all ep. plus the movies.

Any thoughts about this?

And yeah, I agree with the others, Spike did die in the end. One more thing, don't you guys hate it that they never really fully explain Faye's past?

sounds like a sound idea to me.

I thought they explained Faye's past pretty well.

Prolly missed that episode BE. It was pretty well explained. Mmm... Faye.

I've heard good things about it, and I'm hoping that the UK Toonami will eventually start showing it, as I can't really afford the CDs at the moment.

As an aside though, Pokemon isn't "watered-down". It's pretty much exactly the same as the Japanese version. It's only watered-down in the same way that say Dexter's Lab is watered-down compared to South Park.

my mistake.

in that case, I meant, it doesn't SUCK like Pokemon. Though that Pikachu sure is adorable.

hehe.

Mistake. Nothing to see here.

Do you often quote yourself? And why?

Uh, no i don't. but i'm also a moron. I meant to fix something, and I ended up quoting it. Damn buttons.

No, it wasn't really explained.

We don't know what really happened to her other then she was in some kind of accident involving a space shuttle in space.

We don't know who sent her the video tape and VCR.

Plus, it really annoyed me when she ran away from that old lady in the wheel chair who knew about her past in Singapore.

An FTP with all the eps? Dude! That would be great!

($)Faye Spoilers($)

Faye's past was explained very well. While I still can't for the life of me figure out who was sending her those VHS tapes, it was all wrapped up at the end where she came fromm. Overall she had terrific character development. You can even notice her personality changing from one episode to the next. Anyhow, for being 80-something, she's one hot old chic. Of course the cryogenic suspension might have had something to do with it all.

It was perfectly well explained. Just like with most other series, you need to pick up the clues from different places & piece them together in the right order.

Faye was on a class trip as a teenage girl. They were in space on some sort of hypersonic suborbital liner when you see the moon crack outside her window. Well, what cracked the moon? The first tests with the hyperspace gates, the same ones that rendered Earth mostly uninhabitable & caused that kid to be effectively immortal. We know that was in the 2020s sometime (2021, I think) & we know Faye was in suspended animation until the 60s. My guess is that she was either a ward of the "state" or was lost in the bureaucratic shuffle.

Posted by David Templar (Member # 580) on :

Actually, I'm not sure if Faye's shuttle was actually caught in the hyperspace gate explosion. I think her accident took place before it, there by explaining the lost of the records. It could have just been a freak accident. If she were in line-of-sight of the explosion, she would have been dead like half the planet.

That's what I thought to.

The "crack" that everyone saw is a crack on the window, rather then the moon exploding.

So the accident is a mechincal failure of the shuttle, rather then the gate accident.

Yo, Jeff! Being a lego fan, I thought you might appreciate this, and yes it is on topic....kind of. Here's an incredible lego model of the Bebop!

http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=8892

*drool* I want it.........

Posted by The Antagonist (Member # 484) on :

Hmm, thats the Swordfish not the Bebop

Didn't Spike call his ship the Bebop? I could have sworn he did.

Posted by Shik (Member # 343) on :

Bebop was the big ship they all lived on. Swordfish II was Spike's little racing fighter, Red Tail was Faye's Zipcraft, & Hammerhead was Jet's grappler sled.

Of course. Now I remember. Either way, it is a kick ass lego model.

i just finished watching the whole series in japanese with sub-titles, and the movie (gotta love kazaa), and i have to say that Cowboy Bebop is the best anime' series i have ever seen (and this includes great ones like Evangelion, the Tenchi series and the like). about Spike's "death", i think that if someone took him to the hospital immediately that he could have survived. the syndicate still had people who were loyal to Spike (like Lin and Shin), and Spike had survived injuries just as bad as what he received at the hand's of Vicious in other episodes. of course we will never know as knowing would ruin the drama of the last scene [Smile] .
