I don't know whether to incite spamming of this twit, or form a petition against this petition. Jeez...

A fairly good demonstration of what happens when chimps get hold of a computer with internet access. What a prat.

It's seems obvious that this guy has never read the books and is probably not even aware that the movies are based on books.
Yah..."apparently" there's going to be a sequel, and it's "obvious" that the title refers to the 9-11 attacks....
Sheesh.

at least the folks who run petitiononline.com seem to understand the truth.
They could print it in larger letters, though.
The very thought that there might actually be people stupid enough to BELIEVE this petition, though...
ignorant savages.

I'm pretty sure it's a joke. All the "signatures" are either jokes or invalidated.

I don't know about where YOU live - but here in Vancouver, I've been fighting an uphill battle to get the local sf clubs to read books. They think sf was invented on the silver screen...
THe reviewer is simply a product of pop-sf.

The only comfort, to me, is that the producers are certainly intelligent enough to completely ignore these illiterates.
Still, it's sickening that such ignorance exists, and takes such a classic literary reference so literally.

Speaking of "The Two Towers", I thought, when I read the whole series in November, that these two towers got surprisingly little attention in the book(s) they were named after.
Only once did I hear about them, Tolkien mentioned just that they were two towers built during the Last Alliance and that they formed the gateway to Mordor (becoming Carchost and Narchost, the Towers of the Teeth) and then that was that, no more screentime for them.
I failed to see why he bothered to name the book after them.

It's got to be a joke. No person could be that stupid. Well, maybe some, but...
Speaking of why the book "Two Towers" is named just that, Tolkien probably said, "Hmmm. I could name it 'Lord of the Rings 2: This Time It's Personal,' 'The Fellowship of the Ring that's not a Fellowship Anymore,' or 'The Two Towers.'"

I'm pissed off about the "Attack of the Clones" title too, with all of the controversy about that Italian threatening to clone a person isn't this title just a little offensive?

I like the actual responses he is getting:
quote:I think we should boycott KFC for there tower burger as well. And destroy anything that rises above 10ft.
quote:originally posted by Dirk Diggler They should rename it "The One Tower and Dirk Diggler's Penis"... yeah that'd be nice....
quote:originally posted by Hamm Hurabi I demand that the number two no longer be used!
quote:originally posted by b0b I DIED IN THE TWIN TOWER ATTACK! IF YOU KEEP THE NAME THEN IM GONNA BE OFFENDED!
quote:originally posted by Bill Clinton I agree, America. When I'm fucking my twin interns I shed a tear for 9/11

I'm sure there at least a few hardcore soccer moms on there that is taking it seriously. Perhaps want to make anther one about the ame of "Return of the King" because we all know that could mean the return of Christ.

Re: "Return of the King": As cool as I think Elvis was, I don't think he could've played Sauron out of town...

When I first heard the name "The Two Towers," I thought, "What? Is this "Lord of the Rings" meets "Die Hard?" I can picture it: the tagline is "40 stories of sheer terror," the poster has Frodo's face superimposed by a big building blowing up, and Frodo's final line is "Yippee-kiy-ay, motherf***er!" and he pushes Sauron off the top of the tower...
My usual silliness is showing.

Lol. The first thing I thought about Twin Towers was 'another Lord of the Rings movie? Cool!' Not 'OMFG, Tolkien is Satan himself for bringing us 9-11 again! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH *and jumps out of the window*'.

LOL; those responses are *funny*
Elvis lives!!!!!

Far be it for me not to get a joke, but when a Canadian's involved it's best to make sure:
quote: I'm pissed off about the "Attack of the Clones" title too, with all of the controversy about that Italian threatening to clone a person isn't this title just a little offensive?
So, er, are we joking here, or not?

Imagine if you would go into the changing rooms of the Star Wars clones, steal all the ID-material from their armor and spraypaint the rank colors all white.
I suppose Jango Fett puts a new spin on Mohammed Ali's famed "World's Shortest Poem": "Me, We."
