I've known about the first two for a while now, but I'm starting to realize that this is a trend... I started a separate topic because it's not really related to my comparison chart.
Ever notice how the Earthforce Omega-class destroyer is incredibly similar to the Alexei Leonov as seen in the movie "2010: The Year We Make Contact"? They've got the design nailed down, from the rotating section (with similar angles) to the aft engine block!
Then there's the Vree flying saucers, which are definitely supposed to be reminiscent of all of the 50's-era sci-fi flicks. Heck, according to the back story (and that one hilarious scene in B5's courtroom), the Vree did indeed kidnap Earthlings in the 20th century...
But the one that I just discovered, that finally made me realize that the B5 effects people might have been doing this on purpose...
The Warlock-class destroyer is remarkably similar to the design of the Sulaco in "Aliens." (I've never seen any of the "Alien" series, so I've never seen the ship before today.)
Anyone know of other, maybe more obscure designs that other B5 ships might have been based on?

Heh, yeah, I've read some of his archived messages, although I don't get on Usenet myself.

I was. Of course he certainly wouldn't be the first to borrow, and me living in a glass house and all that...
For my own series I will likely be paying 'homage' to several other sci-fi universes by retexturing meshes rescaling and using them as background ships. I actually think this is kind of a cool thing to do as long as you don't overdo it.

Ugly ship. However, I do remember that the Omegas WERE in fact ripped off from the Leonov (one of my favorite sci-fi ships ever). The Foundation guys liked it, so they used it. Here.

The Warlock was the next-generation cruiser that was briefly mentioned at the end of "Rising Star," after the conclusion of the Earth Civil War. Ivanova was promoted to Captain of one of the first ships. (According to a JMS short story, the EAS Titans.)
There haven't been any really good on-screen shots of the Warlock, but "someone" leaked some beauty shots detailing all of the various angles (my guess is Tim Earls, who's provided practically all of the design info regarding the model, including some of the components and its weapons complement).

Anyone notice how B5's docking bay is bathed in that red light like the docking bay/landing bay on the moon in 2001?
I also saw an exact reuse/copy of the B5 landing bay/clam-shell doors on some movie I saw a while back (on Pay TV)... It was half animation half CGI and seemed to be made by some French company - it wasn't Titan A.E. It was like Space something 2000. It was the scene where the woman pulls up to that jump-point station.

that isn't "copying", that is being realistic. space isn't very bright, and you don't want to kill your pilots night vision when they are doing a landing. since red light doesn't effect night vision nearly as much as "normal" light, and you can still see clearly by red light, you should bathe docking bays in red light.

Oh yeah, I forgot about the Thirdspace Aliens and Species 8472. Of course, the funny thing there is that both of those were done by Foundation Imaging... (Or had B5 already switched to Netter Digital by the time of the movies?)

I've never understood why people insist on that last comparison. I can see the main spherical hull in the Krenim ship and its basic bluish color -- but other than that, there's absolutely no similarity, IMO.

I seriously doubt it. The Shadows were spidery, six-legged creatures with triangular heads. And they had the basic orientation of a quadruped -- long body, elevated head. The 8472's, on the other hand, were only three-legged, and walked upright.
