In the movie Aliens, at the USMC breakfast table aboard the USS Sulaco, when Frost starts talking about some prostitute he had enjoyed at some shoreleave (making Ripley roll her eyes), he said "I wouldn't mind some of that arcturian poon-tang right now...".
Now, I know poon-tang, but "arcturian"?
And then someone says "The one you got was male!" and Frost replies "It doesn't matter, they look the same to me!". Sounds like they're talking about some semi-intelligent mammal, not a human. Has anyone read any novelization of Aliens or some extended-universe literature that explains this?

the reply wasn't "It doesn't matter, they look the same to me!", it was "it doesn't matter, as long as it's Arcturian". arcturian poontang was just some kind of good alien fuck that they found somewhere. to my knowledge, nobody has ever divulged exactly what arcturian poontang is, either as behind the scene info or in a book. the Aliens Movie Resource Page might be able to help you out, though.

The novel has nothing.
You ALWAYS say that, Frost. You always got a bad feeling about this drop.

"well, when you get home in a box, i'll write a letter to your mother" (or something like that; it's been a year since i saw the movie last).

Well, nobody seems to know what arcturian is, not even Oxford. And still I've heard it in some other sci-fi franchise, has it been in Trek?

Hmm. I get a lot more hits if I spell it "arkturian" but I don't get any "by-the-minute" wiser.

Supposedly the weirdo pilot from Star Trek III was refered to as Arcturian by the...well, somebody. You know, "You seek I. Available ship stands by."
Anyway, I don't think this needs to be a reference to aliens. Considering the way your average colonist is treated in these films, this could just be a reference to some backwater brothel.

So, deductively, you think Frost was longing for that Star Trek arcturian?

Presumably, "Arcturian" would describe anything from the Alpha Boötis system...

In the second movie, when the Company is interviewing ripley, they tell her that out of X many worlds, there have not been any aliens found, so the odds are that the Arcurian Poon-tang was just shoreleave at an exotic port of call. The Arcturians may just be a fun-loving, trans-gender society, or something like the Deltans of ST: TMP. They could also have been razzing Frost too, like in Top Gun, when the bet between Maverick and Goose is to "have carnal knowledge, of a woman, this time."
God help me, did I really just compair Top Gun, to Aliens?

INCORRECT. they didn't say they hadn't found any aliens, they said that the colonists had not reported any hostile aliens.

Newsflash!
Another mention of the secretive species (albeit in slightly different spelling and in another universe) I have found!
I told in another thread of my rereading an old book in the original english instead of swedish, and I'm kind of astonished the Douglas Adams buffs here at Flare didn't chirp in earlier, as this passage comes from the early pages of "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy", chapter 29.
"Arcturan Meagfreighters carry most of the bulky trade between the Galactic Center and the outlying regions.
The Betelgeuse trading scouts find the markets and the Arcturans supply them. There was a lot of trouble with space pirates before they were all wiped out in the Dordellis wars, and the Megafreighters had to be equipped with the most fantastic defense shields known to Galactic science. They are real brutes of ships, and huge. In orbit around a planet they eclipse the sun."
I thought "Vorlon planetkiller" immediately, heh.
Beared mentioning, anyhemp.

In "Menage a Troi", Lwaxana offers to make the Daimon an Arcturian Fizz. Though I don't know how it was spelled. It may be spelled completely different.
