Apparently, he's for use with the Transformers: Armada Mini-Cons, and will be making an appearance in the TV shows and comics, soon as well.
The rip-off artists are already advance-selling him for $70.00+ on Ebay.
I'm trusting my local Toys 'R Us to get him, though perhaps I should pester them to be sure.

You're better off buying the Unicron statue for about $90. It loooks just like the movie version.

But it's, y'know, a statue. And not a transforming action figure.

The toy actually looks quite nifty as well, I think. Quite similar to the movie version. Yes.

So you are going to play with it! Thought so.

Well, no, but I'm not likely to get it. The Armada figures really haven't impressed me. After the excellent looking vehicle and car modes of Car Robots/Robots in Disguise, and the all round goodness of Beast Wars, a lot of these new figures are blocky, ugly, and completely lacking in posability. They seem to have gone back to the worse parts of G1.
Some of the new stuff I do quite like. Starscream looks cool, and I might pick him up. And I picked up the small cab-only Prime, which is also nice (shades of Laser Rod Optimus/Black COnvoy/RID Scourge). And Unicron is pretty cool looking. But a lot of the rest leave me with a bit of an "eh".

You're just bitter that Ultra Magnus was such a total pussy in the movie (and after he was sooo damn tough in the Japanese cartoon to!).

Technically before he was so damn tough in the Japanese cartoon.
He could be RID Ultra Magnus, meaning he walks around and sulks because his legs make up 9/10ths of his height. He misses the film everytime he goes to the cinema, because his knees are in the way. Poor chap.

I don't think they allow car carriers with missle launchers on their front/back into drive-ins anymore.

VERY cheesey....and the wrong kind of semi to boot! Go to Dreamwave's website for fantastic TF art.

Not that the comics ever had much to do with the cartoon's continuity though.

No. The comics were vastly superior. And by comics, I of course mean the UK comics. And maybe the latter US ones.
That doesn't alter the fact that the Dreamweave comics are a bit of a, well, mess, both visually and plot wise.
The ability to put some life into fight scenes wouldn't go amiss either.
