Battlestar Galactica doesn't premiere for us in the U.S. until January 14th, according to the Sci-Fi Channel's website.

So's just about every fighter ever made, though, if you think about it. A direct hit will make an F-22 and a Mig-15 fly apart in remarkably similar fashion.

Still, in the last part it seemed to be only a scratch, and the Viper remained intact. Yet, none of it's thrusters were working to counteract the planets gravity. If an F-22 suffered that kind of scratch in the atmosphere, it is probably done for because it would careen out of control due to air resistance, but in space, it could recover!
