You can garantee its going to be a CG fest but it also has the prospect of being grim and dark so it wont be anything like ID4, thank goodness.

I think I will be happiest with the movie if the aliens are kept just behind the curtain, never dominating the action. Not unlike Signs. Or Alien. However, to what extent this will be the case we don't know. Therefore, I am will be waiting for the reviews before deciding one way or the other.

I've heard the faithful adaptation has run aground with this Speilbergian version looming.
I cant imagine it making it into theatres....mabye DVD though.

Well, the novel has been around for an hundred years, and been adapted into all sorts of diverse media. Why does this particular film version trump the 1960s version, or even the TV show, for that matter, as the point beyond which no future adaptations are possible? You'll probably have to wait awhile, sure.
The operative contrast between Wells' novel and Moore's comic is that, as much talent as I ascribe to Alan Moore, I doubt The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen will find the same level of cultural acceptance, owing to the limited niche it debuted in and the subsequent failure to expand out of it.

Yeah, I downloaded that a while back.
Still, nothing beats the book- it's still one of the best ever made.
