I'm all for this - Rose is an excellent companion and Billie Piper has played her very well, but I've always thought that her character was better balanced against Eccleston's Doctor. They are currently too close in relationship and in personality IMO, and all the hints at how your life changes when you meet the Doc (Especially in "School Reunion" and now "Love & Monsters") are going to be bounre out, possibly fatally. I'll miss Rose, but hopefully this will result in some maturation of this Doctor's personality (which some argue is needed), and a new companion who can temper his characteristic enthusiasm and exuberance.

And, even better, a companion who isn't the Doctor's girlfriend. I mean, I'm not one of those "oh my god, the Doctor can't even conceive of sex, it's wrong!" people. But the Doctor-Rose love theme does wear a bit thin after... well, not very long. I just don't buy it.

Having seen next week's preview after tonight's ep (How The Doctor Saved The Olympics, I believe it was called), I've figured it out. How they get rid of Rose while leaving it open for her to return, I mean. I think.

Yeah, some time in the future she could fall through whatever dimensional portals are involved in next week's episode and not be dead anymore. Sort of.
The same way the Daleks and Cybermen are going to.

No. My theory is, she and her mum (well, she could hardly do without her mum could she?) are going to end up in the Lumicverse. With Mickey, and her alternate-Dad.
