In Earth:Final Conflict they use a communications device with a screen that rolls out of the device. I was wondering if anyone remembers seeing this type of device (with a flexible display) in any other movie or series (or even comic) prior to this show?

Let's see, Red Planet was 2000. That's the first time I recall seeing anything like that...

It's not a communications device, per se, but the musical keyboard in TNG's "Lessons" (the episode with Picard's girlfriend in Stellar Cartography) rolled up like that.

Cool thanks, for the quick reply! I'll try to look up some images of those.

Was the keyboard adaptable, in other words was it a display that could show various keyboard layouts?

Anyone seen other examples elsewhere? [Razz]

Doesn't look like it. It's pretty much static.

They're PDAs with a bendy part.
