Well there seems to have been a drama concerning the show. What was originally envisioned as Webseries was upgraded to a potential Series, before being downgraded to a Webseries again by "SyFy". To make things worse, someone got some footage and made a kick-arse trailer which only made news that it would not be picked up as a series all the more painful.

I've said it before, Syfy wouldn't know a good scifi show if it bit them on the ass. I haven't watched a show on their network in a full year.

There's been a bit of criticism about the trailer only having shooting and explosions, but from what I hear it was really supposed to be demo reel of the effects, rather than a proper trailer. In any case, the scale of the effects is a real step up from the previous shows and it's a shame to see so much effort put into a project only to basically be snubbed by a network that is SyFy in name only.
I hope whatever form it's eventually released in it at least gives us something that's reasonably self contained and gets across the ideas that they were hoping to explore if it'd been given 'checkers green'.

If they REALLY want it to get picked up by SyFy, they should change the name to "Ghost Battlestar Hunters: Cylon Smackdown". Then they'd put it in several time slots.

I'm not sure that I could handle a sci-fi show on HBO or Showtime; the seasons would be too short! But, OTOH the quality of the episodes would be OMG amazing.

Have started re-watching season 2 of Stargate: Universe. Such a SHAME there is no more. The show had such great potential. The production values were superb. They just needed to maybe kick the pace along a bit.

The problem with Universe (and Caprica) was that they got too clever and sophisticated. I loved them but it's obvious they overcompensated in developing the complexity of the plot for general viewing. Which annoys me to no end, because fans have been asking for more sophisticated storytelling for years. Once we get it, they stop watching and complain about it.

Nice- I like the actor that plays Adama'a copilot- he was great as the swarmy addhole on Stargate Atlantic- Cavanaugh.

Ah, it feels like coming home...
So the Cylons had hunter killer tanks just like in Terminator, and Galactica bridge was a much more animated set. I want more, more, MORE!!!!

I can honestly say that I never really noticed the upper level of CIC until they plugged Anders into Galactica; maybe it was only added in season 4?

No, they used the upper level a few times before. I remember it from the end of season three, at least. It just looked so different because they cleared room for Anders' bathtub.

3 & 4 just came out. After seeing the entire Colonial fleet as Battlestars, its nice to see a different class of ship. Also really digging the cramped submarine vibe of the Osiris.

You guys notice how much more heavilyarmed the Galactica s here? It makes sense as the old girl was decommissioned at the time of the first episode- those railguns were probably moved to active ships or planetary defenses or something and the ones left were just there so the ship did not look toothless for the tourists...

Yeah, I pegged him the second he went into "whiney mode". It might be a niche the actor has stumbled on- some casting agent says "who is a great whiner?" and just like that, the guy's got another fat paycheck.

I'm really enjoying the show so far. Possibly in a kind of "guilty pleasure" way. A lot of my enjoyment comes from the references to previous shows, the familiar actors who keep popping up and, of course, the starship porn. It's entertaining enough in its own right, though. I doubt it'll ever have the depth of BSG or Caprica, but the story is still interesting and has some fairly original elements. I can only assume the "ghost fleet" idea is something taken from a historical event, but if so it's not something I'm familiar with.
Mark III Vipers... they look just like Mk.IIs, but they're shiny grey. Which is pretty much what fans had decided too.
The Osiris also has a very reflective hull. Like a mirror. I thought that looked a bit goofy but maybe there's a good reason for it. Camouflage, even. Great CIC, though. Very submarine-like.
We finally got to see the internal mass transit system on Galactica. Doug Drexler commented on this idea a few years ago, possibly before B&C was commissioned. As it happens, it wasn't too dissimilar from the version in the original series.
The enlarged hangar bay is a welcome addition, too, though the lens flares are a bit much. Those deckhands must have killer headaches at the end of their shifts.

The Osiris strikes me as something akin to an AWACS ship. Notice the antennae and dishes on the underside?
As for the ghost fleet idea, I don't recall something like that happening on such a large scale in real life, but I do remember reading that the Japanese believed they'd destroyed the carrier USS Enterprise on three separate occasions, and were wrong each time.

Now that I've seen them all, I can say that it was definitely enjoyable. Not spectacular, but I'd love to see more.
I wasn't surprised too much by the big reveal, but they didn't telegraph it TOO much, so it wasn't disappointing. The second reveal (by the commander at the end) made it more... interesting.
Also, I'm pretty sure that was Tricia Helfer's voice at the end. You know the scene.
