I was wondering. Do you have any close up pictures of the sharpened angels on your custom Tie Advanced. You see, I'm trying to make one of my own and I can't quite make out what you did to create the black border around the solar panels. Also I have some pics of my T-wing and Tie Dagger if you would like to see them. Unfortunatly niether of them are very great, but for a beginner like me, I think I have done a nice job.

No. The name of this section of the forum is 'Starships & Other Technology'. NOT 'Starships & Other Technology from Star Trek'. You are just making an assumtion that this is a Star Trek only section of this forum. It's not.

Okay, I'm back from vacation now.

Re: TIE Advanced - I'm not sure what you mean by the black borders around the solar panels.

On the front tapered wings I scribed out where I wanted the new forward edge of the panel to be (making it a simple triangle) then the more complex shape of the gray border which curves around it. I cut around the complex line using a razor-saw, then used a rotary tool (Dremel) to grind down the part of the raised solar panel outside the triangle. This revealed the gray plastic underneath. I did a little hand-sanding to get everything nice and smooth, and just painted the raised rough edge of the solar panel a gloss black.

At least, I'm pretty sure that's all I did - the toy is away in storage at the moment. Ask me again in two months.
