I was surfing the net when I came across this. This guy is saying that one of the CIS ships from Episode III, the Commerce Guild destroyer or Recusant has a variant. To me it just looks like all the other Recusants in the Coruscant battle scene, but someone else posted this. But that ship could just be a more refined version of Recusant, slightly modified to give a more complex look since it wasn't going to put in the background, but be the flagship of a main character. Any thoughts?

Eh, I'm not feelin' it.
1. I don't see much difference . . . if anything, it looks like more of the ship is missing beneath the big 'windshield' armor plate, so rather than being up-armored it is down-hulled.
In reality, I would presume this is a bad angle or something.
2. The TCW CGI ship appears to be rather larger than the Ep3 Recusant, as seen by comparison to the somewhat easy to scale Republic Light Cruiser.
It's basically just a K'Vort/B'Rel thing. I've noticed the TCW guys downscaling the Trade Federation battleships on more than one occasion, for instance, at least once in a space shot ("Rookies"[TCW1]) and more than once in tactical displays (e.g. "Cat and Mouse"[TCW2]).

That light CRuiser design is pretty cool but it looks like they sorta slapped elements from the Radiant and the Falcon forks on there...maybe as crowd pleasers?
The Radiant engines on the back throw the scale off some- making it look much smaller than it is.

Well, it's basically the love-child of a Venator and Consular, and I approve of it on that basis. Frankly, I think it improves the Consular design tremendously, and fleshes out what ought to be a deeper fleet dynamic.
To be sure, we've seen little ships that are 'all engine' before, such as the "galactic cruiser" blockade runner Tantive IV, and Star Wars generally has more engine on its ships than Star Trek.
But it really works here, since we see the Consulars used in a fast attack role in "Grievous Intrigue"[TCW2] with the somewhat heavier Light Cruiser as lead ship for those, with the Venators as the big beef-eating brutes behind them.
Put simply, Star Wars needed more such ships, since thus far all we've really seen are cruisers measuring around 800 to 3000 meters duking it out. The next size up (ignoring the Executor) is the Death Star, and the next size down are shuttles and fighters. The fleet really needed fleshing out.
(Star Trek has some of the same problem, what with runabouts finally having broken into the 15-100m Federation ship size gap, but then Star Trek pretty much shows all ships in all roles without a great deal of distinction.)

I agree- ant the way they just casually allow a giant Venator to be destroyed is appaling! Minimal attempt to save a ship is given at best.
