The old EU is officially gone.
However, now materials like books and such will be canon going forward. Ew.

I think we all saw this coming when they announced Episode VII. Now, I'm not a huge fan of the EU, as I can count the number of Star Wars novels I own on one hand, but we may need to start referring to Abrams as the Destroyer of Universes.

The Destroyer of Universes. Highly appropriate. Even though pretty much the only EU material I enjoyed were the books by Timothy Zahn. (A couple exceptions, of course, but looking back, most of the novels were utter dreck.)
