So...what do ya'll think about the proposed Tax Cut? Is it good...bad, will it screw up the economy and send us into recession (like what happened with Reagan) or will everything turn out okay, because everyone will get their money....

I think it's fine, as long as they don't expect three thousand dollars from every person in the country. I personally don't have it.

I think it's fascinating that they want to cut taxes based on a PRESUMED surplus. There's no proof yet that there actually will be a surplus, so they're messing with money they don't have yet.

Personally I think they should put some of it towards a Mars mission, a Europa Lander, a Pluto probe, and a NGST Planet-Finder, but that's just me.

If you gave the cashier at K-Mart a $20 bill for a $15 purchase, you'd want change, right?

The amounts are different, but the principle's the same.

If they don't give it back, I want it applied towards next year's tax bite.

You know if the folks in Washington where smart they would perhaps spend the money that we might have in a surplus, to perhaps pay off the principle on our debt, (now that's an idea). Hell I would be good for the country, we would have to pay less interest next year the budget would be easier to balance, we would have less trouble with Social Security, over all it would be a very good thing. It's not going to happen, but honestly I don't want a tax cut, mostly because it's not going to happen.

Yes, it bothers me a bit about the fact that the surplus isn't directly in our hands, and we're deciding what to do with it allready. I mean...don't we all pretty much live somewhat okay with taxes the way they are? *shrugs* I just don't like counting chickens before they hatch.

But, I wouldn't mind my five bucks change. *winks*

The whole surplus was a scam, baby. A multi-trillion-dollar surplus of cash...based on projections well into the future.

As one analyst succinctly put it: Do you know what the Dow-Jones will be on any given date of 2005? Can anyone say exactly what the Fed interest rate will be next year, let alone further down the road?

I've gotta ask, Are we so very sure that there will be no hurricanes, earthquakes, tidal waves, asteroid impacts, bank failures, or massive terrorist attacks in years ahead?

I think the Dems fiddled with the books to show what a great job they've done with the economy and the Reps either called their bluff or actually believed them.

we get a bonus, once a year, of 50 dollars per year of service. Sound good? I've got 13 years, and the Government took FOURTY-TWO PERCENT. (Damn)
