Well, it's now 2000, or at least in Kiribati and Tonga. I found the televised ceremonies from there to be a bit disapointing, honestly... just expected a bit more than tribal dancing and Handel's Messiah sung by a pretty lousy choir. Oh well.

In other news, Boris Yeltsin has resigned as Russian president, handing the reigns over to Putin. We weren't expecting that one until the next millennium, were we?

We'll have to await for Daryus to arise from his drunken slumber. Which will probably take about 63 hours.

And since it'll be new Year's over here in less than 10 hours, I'm off to get ready. You'll probably see me lift my head up from the pillow and croak for water sometime late (very late) tomorrow.

No no no, you mean one of those people who don't count. Common misconception.

We can count very well, thank you very much, we just know the truth about Roman History and the Julian Calender, so ha ha.

Well, by the Julian calendar, we're celebrating New Year's far too early.

Just heard that the first baby born in 2000 is a New Zealander...and will no doubt be reminded of that fact for the rest of his/her life, poor kid.

Sitting here with just 4.75 hours remaining until The Future--- I can hardly wait for my affordable flying car and household robot to arrive. I feel just like George Jetson!!

So does this mean the world's not gonna end?

DAMN! Now I gotta do my homework.

Speaking of New Zealand, I heard about some computer recording the time as 19100 instead of 2000. Weird all this time we thought they'd say 1900.

Well, as you can see, I'm posting from Buffalo, NY, and all is well. My little brother had the *unique*(sarcasm) idea to flip our breakers in the cellar just as the year switched over. His joke didn't fall through because everyone could see the street lights outside were on.

Other than that, my computer seemed to work fine, except that shutting off the breakers also turned off my computer abruptly and it went into scandisk mode. How was everyone elses' parties?
