Yesterday I have installed a clean Windows 98SE, and I have a small 'problem'. When I type sertain symbols like ' or ", nothing happens. But when I add the next letter, then sometimes they combine in special letters like or . I don't want that to happen. I want those symbols like ' and " to appear immedeatly. How can I change the settings of this? In my previous Windows 98 configuration this did not happen.

Double check what language your Win98 is running on... I think that might make a difference.

More specifically, you might need to go to Control Panel -> Keyboard -> Language.

It is currently on US International, which I always choose. I'll try putting it on US 101.

US International is what I use for my French keyboard...

Oh, and, as myself and Tim can tell you, you'll regret getting Win98SE soon....

If I didn't have a winmodem, I'd mover permanently over to Mandrake 7.0. Actually, as soon as a better version of wine (WINdows Emulator) comes out, I probably will. The modem can be replaced easily when I have more time.

Windows 98 works much more nicely when you replace the shell with LiteStep. Faster, more stable, and customizable that Explorer.
