Well, time for me to get out of the Pizza business. Lord knows its good money, but my Jeep has been run ragged this past year -- new tires, new brakes, about $100 in maintenance per month on top of that -- and it's time to find a new job!

(Not to mention I'm going to have to replace my tires again in a few months ...)

So, I'm thinking of going to work at a local bar/resteraunt type "Monday night all you can eat wings!" deal. Bill Bateman's Bistro in Towson. My ideal job would be bartender ... but, I didn't go to bartending school. So ... does anyone know what the hell a bar-back does?

My neighbor is actually one (at Bateman's, as it would be), and I gather it involved moving kegs about and the like -- and yes, I would ask him, but he be not home at the momento, so I be askin' you -- so: what the hell's a barback?

Basically you're the bartender's bitch.

Besides moving heavy kegs around, I believe you can also serve alcoholic beverages to customers regardless of your age (you just can't drink them unless you're over 21). You're also responsible for throwing out all the drunks at the end of the night.

Just kidding about that last one...

Well in New Zealand you certainly have to be of age to serve behind a bar, which is 18.

And joking aside, you sometimes do have to chuck out the drunks.

You must be 18 to serve alcohol in NYS. I do not know what the laws are in your backwater state.

Since I'm 22 (23 in August, oh dear god, I'm old), I don't think my age will play a large factor about whether or not I get this job ...

Barback = lackey that must make sure that the fridges are constantly stocked with drinks, that the nibbles-dishes are full, the place is in some semblance of order and that all assassinations are carried out with a minimum of fuss.

Get tipped relative to what the barman/maids get i.e. I think it's a portion of their tips that you get.
Bartender's school is about two weeks long, isn't it?
Still, a lot of places are VERY picky about who they let work for them. Good luck, Jeff.

OK, you are...she isn't. ALMOST...but yeah.

"Order of The Mane." A Leo. C'mon, man. Basic astrology.

One wonders, though....I'm Leo on the Virgo cusp; your sister is Virgo on the Leo cusp. I wonder what differences there are, if any.

But then, I'm Sag rising moon, so...

Grrrr ... I'll literaly kill any guy who goes after my sister. I'm not usually this defensive, but her "boyfriend" (they dated for three years in High School, and went to the same University), dumped her her first week away at the college ... Dayton U. ...

Here's the best part. My Mom gave him some money so he could take out to dinner.

And he dumped her.

MOTHER FUCKER!!!!!

Anyway.

Otherwise, Shik, you're free to have her ... Just be warned: as much as anyone on this board is obsessed with all things Trek, her obsession is with "Got Milk?" ads and toy frogs ...
