Ok, this guy, who runs a RPG, asked me to design some ships for him. I said yes. He took that as me being the chief starship designer for his RPG. Now he is forcing me with deadlines for work I can't do, on top of my time on the computer is limited ( just because I am on Flare 24/7 doesnt mean I have no life, well, sorta. But I made $156.02 at a yard sale today!!!) and I can't do what he wants in 3 hours and not rush it. Besides, I usually dont just sit down and sketch up a ship with details. Imagine Lobo trying to draw his proto miranda from scratch in 2 hours withh all those details. And I start doing some ship, then get on EAS and get an idea, then start some of that, you get the idea.
All in all, I need a good way of telling him I dont want to do this as a job but just as a freelance guy doing this for fun. Any ideas?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Give up Flare so you can fulfill your obligation as chief RPG designer.

Also, get a real job and don't rely on yardsales.

The link was thoughtful, if a bit unecessary.

At the risk of sounding unhelpful (although more so than period-ridden Jeff), there's not much you can say beyond "I don't have time to do this. Either let me do less work and give me more time, or I won't be able to do anything."

Yes, you're despicable, and... and picable... and... and you're definitely, definitely despicable. How a person can get so despicable in one lifetime is beyond me. It isn't as though I haven't met a lot of people. Goodness knows it isn't that. It isn't just that... it isn't... it's... it's despicable.

How exactly is he "forcing [you] with deadlines"?
Are you getting paid for this? (If so, out of curiosity, where does he get his money)

How much does it compare with your real job?
(If you have a real job? the profile says 30....if thats real)

My recommendation is to laugh at him when he tries to force you to do what he wants. If he doesn't get the hint, tell him to fuck himself and design his own ships. Really not a difficult situation...

Unless his vice-grips and your balls are in the same point in space and time.... then you may be too close too him and need to call the whole thing off....

Anyway, there's really not much that the other guy can do to you, BWC. Yeah, you agreed to design a ship for him, but if he's being unreasonable about it than tell him to go away. Or be reasonable. I'm assuming this is volunteer work, and if that's the case than any "real life" responsibilities certainly come first. (I would hope so, anyways. [Wink] )

Yes, I could just quit, but I never like to back out on something.

Besides, my email gave my real name, so he knows my address.

For some odd reason I don't think an internet RPG guy is going to come to your house looking for his designs anytime soon...address or no address...
