Assuming I have a DVD player on my computer, is there any way to send it out to a VCR?

Erm ... urgh. Assuming the above, is there anyway to tape off my DVD player on my computer to a VCR?

If you've got any sort of tv output, you can hook it up to your VCR. Some video cards and tv tuner cards have tv-out ports.

Picard: Mr. Crusher, what's our maximum speed this week?
Wesley: [checking manual] Uh, 9.4, sir.
Picard: Very good. Take us to Warp 9.8 then.
Wesley: Aye, sir. Warp 9.2 it is.

Short answer: Yes
Slightly longer answer: Yes, but not without crazy quality loss.

My knee-jerk answer would be, practically all ATI video cards for the last...three or four years (at least since the Rage Fury, yep the ole' Rage 128) have had video *out* of some sort, whether s-video or composite. Perhaps someone can fill us in on Nvidia cards, I'm less familiar with those.

In any case, simply hook up the display cable, enable the screen, play your DVD there, fullscreen and start recording.

I remember recording small segments of Mechwarrior 2 on s-video tape to experiment with in grade 12, video editing class (three+ years ago). The quality wasn't as bad as I expected, still not very good though.

I have a NVIDIA GeForce2 MX/MX 400. It has an S-Video output then when plugged into the S-Video of my tv plays DVDs from my computer to the tv quite effectively.

HOWEVER, the problem is, between the 4 or so VCRs I have at my disposal, none have S-Video jack adaptability, therefore I cannot make a direct feed from the S-Video Card output to the vcr. Even though I have an S-Video to RCA jack adaptor, which on my old roomates laptop worked wonderfully, does not do so on my NVIDIA, as all video seen on the moniter when passed through the converter jack becomes black and white on the tv screen.

Thats the story on my NVIDIA...
