Author Topic: I have a file that refuses to die Omega Some other beginning's end Member # 91 posted                       I have a file in my C:\ root directory. It is 2.5 gigabytes. I do not need this file. It will not die. Windows says something is using the file, even if I boot into bare-bones XP. Help me kill it. Please. Member # 335 posted                       I've had that before with large AVI downloads before. One way that sometimes works is cutting and pasting it into the recycle bin instead of dragging or pressing delete. Have you closed all your media players? Another idea is to take another, smaller, AVI and save it as that file. Then see if it will delete. -------------------- I am the Anti-Abaddon. It shouldn't've, but it did! I dragged it from root to recycle bin, and it went. It wouldn't do that last time I tried. I don't know what was different, but it's gone now. Open Regedit, navigate to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\SystemFileAssociations\.avi\shellex\PropertyHandler, remove the default value (should be "{87D62D94-71B3-4b9a-9489-5FE6850DC73E}"), and reboot.
