Not really a suprise there. The official name of Ceres (the biggest asteroid in the belt) is actually "1 Ceres". Doesn't really mean much for the well-known objects like Ceres and Pluto, since that's what the average person is still going to call them. In practice, it's really to help keep all those obscure objects straight, like 15092 Beegees and 18610 Arthurdent.
