Sorry about that subject line...couldn't think of a better one :-/ http://www.newsweek.com/id/57368?GT1=10450 If you read it, please it read it all. Reactions? Thoughts? All I can say is that if turns out to be the big deal some people think it is, we should all get tattooes that say "Hindsight is 20/20."

I've never had the most sanitary habits of most kids. I know some who have basically been raised in a spic and span clean environment. Nowadays, rarely am I seriously sick with the cold, fever or flu. I may show symptoms, but they are never enough to make me immobile. Those spic and span kids however, get the occasional sickness every couple of months or so and get immobilized for several days.

One of my ex-girlfriend's nieces was the curious sort when she was a toddler and would always want to get her hands dirty or something. My ex would berate her for getting something dirty and would always make sure her hands or face were washed. We got into an argument about this with me saying that it's ok for a kid to get dirty at that age as to build biological resistance but she claims that being dirty causes people to be sick. Which is the whole point, you need to get sick in order to build up resistance, and in order to get sick, one can afford to get dirty now and then.
