Okay.. that was odd. Here I am browsing happily away, when suddenly, I see brief flashes of MSN Messenger popping up, basically iterating through all my contacts. I'm assuming it's sending out spam messages to my contacts....

Does anyone have an idea what piece of software causes this? I'm running a completely updated McAfee virusscanner, and also have Spybot S&D running. Neither of them report anything.

Okay... so I just found something called Security Task Manager, and I appear to have a tasty worm called Zezer, manifesting itself as "msnexec.exe".

Interstingly, my McAfee logs do show a registry being changed so msnexec.exe is run at startup. Conveniently, it lists this operation as "trusted", and just let it do its thing. THANKS!

McAfee/Norton suck; use Avast! instead. 'Tis my friendly advice.
