Are they any good? I have tried a few and most seem to suck.
Juno is one my g/f uses and it's always kicking her off, Netzero wouldn't connect for me and the rest have annoying ads.

When will we get a decent free ISP without all the annoying characteristics of AOHell?

All I have to say is you get what you pay for. You want quality, you have to fork out the bucks. And besides, DSL and cable services are so much faster. I hate dial-up services.

I live in the middle of nowhere, so anything I get costs money, and NO DSL/Cable either.
I'm stuck with a crappy ISP that I pay $24 a month for and gives only 360 hours.

Well 360 hours is a lot of time.....but over here free ISP's generally give unlimited bandwith unlimited time access. Only catch is that they have a small advertising banner. Speeds are OK, with downloads in the 3k-5k category. But if you want to play net games, forget it. However free is still free, and if you don't like the $25 a month then dump pay services. In Australia the success of the Free ISP's has forced our prices down to US $14.50/month unlimited time open bandwith connections, with flat 20 cents unlimited time local calls to the ISP.

So, up with competition! Let's just hope they get their arse in gear and lay out the cable/dsl infrastructure so we can get that at around AUS $35/mo.

I wouldn't complain if they actually worked.

The problem is they love disconnecting out of nowhere and generally have slow connections.

And 360 hours is only 12 hours a day.

12 hours a day to little? I think you need to get out more.

A day?!? Wow. What would you do? Get up, turn on the computer, surf for 16 hours, go to bed?

Maybe he just adopted the new metric time system, which has 100 hours in a day. So in real terms, he was only on it for 3 hours and 40-something minutes.

You should not use the new metric time system while pregnent.

As a former America OnLine customer, and current NetZero customer, you really have to have patience with free ISP. When I decided to get rid of AOL, Netzero was the only one that was fast for me. Then again, I live somewhat nearby the company's HQ. I'm not really happy with the fact that NZ sometimes won't let me online, or the damn AD banner thing, but it beats paying the AOL bill that drove me and Justin insane. Besides, there's AOL Instant Messanger...
