Direct From the Secret Undisclosed Crypt.

Mr. Chenney has used his skeleton like hand to rachet up the fear level, this time as it pertains to American democracy.

The New York Times ran this story regarding the vote in Connecticut:

quote:
Democrats Back Lamont in Race in Show of Unity

With promises of both money and personal campaign appearances, Democratic leaders rallied yesterday behind the campaign of Ned Lamont, the antiwar challenger who defeated Senator Joseph I. Lieberman in the Connecticut primary, leaving Mr. Lieberman increasingly isolated as he pledged to forge ahead as an independent candidate.

At the same time, Republicans began a concerted effort to use Mr. Lieberman's defeat to portray Democrats as weak on national defense, reprising a theme that they made central to the last two national campaigns.

The attacks came in searing remarks from, among others, Ken Mehlman, the chairman of the Republican National Committee and Vice President Dick Cheney, who went so far as to suggest that the ouster of Mr. Lieberman might encourage "al Qaeda types."

"It's an unfortunate development, I think, from the standpoint of the Democratic Party, to see a man like Lieberman pushed aside because of his willingness to support an aggressive posture in terms of our national security strategy," Mr. Cheney said in a telephone interview with news service reporters.

----

*Emphasis added

I am curious what goes on inside the neo-con head. Does using fear as a political tactic go so deep as to make them loose all reason?

Is Mr. Chenney suggesting exercising our democratic rights and voting for those we want to vote for is encouraging al Qaeda? Vote Democratic, support a terrorist?

Well then, silly us.

Maybe al Qaeda is so non-media savvy that they are completely unaware of the polls indicating that the majority of Americans are fed up with this Administration.

Weve come to realize what the Administration, with its head firmly buried in the sand and its White House and RNC spin machine, have not, that since the cessation of combat operations, the Administration has mishandled almost every aspect of winning the peace, and as a result, now feel that some new political blood is in order to call the Administration on its failures.

No one in Connecticut's been happy with Joe Lieberman since about 1999. People also forget that he's the junior senator from the state.

All you have to do is to tell the people they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger, it works the same in every one...

I am almost willing to bet that Jason's typing skills annoy you to no end. Although its something that I have to agree with you on. (A smirk seems to be missing from the graemlins.)

:smirk: just doesn't quite do it.

Its a shame too, but the punctuation, well, its just the way things is.

Lee loves me and respects my typing for the ongoing challenge to his paitence that it is.
It makes him a better man by allowing him to practice tolerance: I will continue to assist him in this regard.

Leiberman is a TERRRIBLE Democrat- completely in it for himself at his party's expense and seen by most as an "and" guy (as in "The bill was sponsored by McCain and Leiberman) with no voice of his own.

Besides, if Leiberman was supported by the Democrats, Republicans would be screaming he's "a flip-flopper" for having slavishly supported so many Republican agendas.

Now that Leiberman's dealt with, Democrats need to seriously distance themselves from Hilary Clinton (a woman so reviled outside of New York that she makes whoever the Republicans have seem a smart schoice by comparison).
Clinton (slowly becoming a Neo-con) has been courting the Religous Right and even talking with anti-abortion groups to try to chip away at the Republican voter-base.
The Democrtats need a candidate that (at least seems) "For the People" and neither Leiberman or Clinton are it: "For The Power" just sucks as a campaign slogan...but so does "Better than Bush".

Give me a break, I know the difference quite well. Put the coffee down and remember what I've been though.

Even still, I'm a better speller and typist than Jason. Sorry Jason dude, but it's (it is) true. Basically I'm a better speller than Jason because I type my missives on Word Perfect and can see mis-spellings right away. You might want to try that Jason.

I know Lee, but I couldn't resist.

Jay, put your coffee next to Lee's, everyone's got pet peeves, for Lee it seems to be the its/it's thing. Which is grammar, not spelling, since both are words.

I have used WP for many a year now, my first version was for DOS, 4.X I think, might have been 5.x though. Now I use an old copy of 9 that I won while working for a rent-to-own for having the best credit out of nine stores. I closed the week with only two outstanding payments out of 289 accounts.

I tried having a peeve for a pet once, but it annoyed me so.

Phht. Spelling is for people you don't know.
We is family by now.
A strange, strange little family.

Also, Word Perfect is total shit- compatible with nothing else- the bane of the digital printing world, it is.

You can be Grandpa munster.

PDF files are good- the specialized "Quite Imposing Plus" softare I use at work with Acrobat rocks.

But we've drifted a bit off topic...
Seems both sides spout the Fear Card to make the evening soundbyte.
Have some fun: read the linked quotes and try to tell if theu're from a Republican or a Democrat before reading the credit- both sides are ramping up the Fear...FEAR!.....FEAR!!!!

Did you expect anything less, once one side does it the other has to follow suit, or lose the race. The GOP uses the fear of terrorists and the Dems use the fear of the GOP. Although the GOP has, so far, the lower of the two US deaths, but give them time. On an overall scale I think the GOP has killed more people than the terrorists.

mmm, Grandpa Munster.... I like that but I think he had more hair than I.

I'm just pointing out that, aside from their mutual hatred of each other, both parties mirror each other for sheer stupidity and hype.

I say we have Bobby Kennedy run again.
