I have downloaded and played the "Klingon Academy"-demo today and let me tell you, battleing starships is no piece of cake.
Those boys n' girls at Interplay sure know what the word "sequel" means!!!

Apart from the fact that they have made up about thirty ships and an entire race (Well, at least I've never heard of the Sha'kurians) and that the ships are very hard to kill it's a major production with the same kind of solid storyline and cutscenes we saw in "Starfleet Academy". But the real meat 'n potatoes lie in the simulator. To make a long story short everything has been beefed up and they've added a ton of gadgets and options. You can't change the screen-resolution in the demo, but I'm sure that will change.

Now, to me the concept of getting to know the klingon ships from top to bottom is very appealing, and for those more eager to pilot a romulan warbird a la 2290, or a federation Yamato-battleship, you're in luck. The multiplayer- and "custom-battle"-options are very advanced. Apparently they have created different interface-themes for the different races, which will include Federation, Klingon, Romulan, Tholian, Gorn and ?Sha'Kurian? vessels. And there will probably be gaming on the Internet (they say they're working on it).

The minimum requirements at this point:
Pentium II 233mhz
64MB RAM
3D accelerator-card w/ 8MB of RAM
8x CD-ROM
About 200MB of free hard disk space.

This is, of course, subject to change, so keep your thumbs crossed!

Anyone else who have played this game, your input will be appreciated!

I have been waiting for this game for a year. I have downloaded the demo and it looks great. This game is taking for ever to come out. It was supposed to be out Fall '99 (I think) and the demo only came out just recently. I also want to get Armada and Elite Forces. Finally, a Voyager game.

Yeah, it's great to see the Trek-games are growing in numbers.

Well, I tried the demo...its an improvement over SA but still...if I wanted to play a game with similar dynamics, I'd play Star Wars: X-wing Alliance.

Back to Starfleet Command for me
