I follow the system established in TNG, DS9, and VOY. For instance, the stardates 41000 to 42000 are the second year of a cyclical time system and are placed in 2364. So I date TOS as the following after reviewing some episodes, especially the DS9 episode with the tribbles which places the events of "Troubles with Tribbles" in 2267.

2251
"The Cage"

2264
1000.00 to 2000.00
Episodes
"Where No Man Has Gone Before"
"The Corbomite Manuever"
"Mudd's Women"
"The Enemy Within"
"The Man Trap"
"The Naked Time"
"Charlie X"
"Balance of Terror"

2265
2000.00 to 3000.00
Episodes
"What Are Little Girls Made Of?"
"Dagger of the Mind"
"Miri"
"Conscience of the King"
"The Galileo Seven"
"Court Martial" (Note: Early script draft said that Captain Kirk had commanded the USS Enterprise for 18 months.)
"The Squire of Gothos"

2266
3000.00 to 4000.00
Episodes
"The Menagerie" (Captain Kirk is suggested to have commanded the USS Enterprise for two years.)
"Arena"
"The Alternative Factor"
"Tomorrow is Yesterday"
"The Return of the Archons"
"A Taste of Armageddon"
"Space Seed"
"This Side of Paradise"
"The Devil in the Dark"
"Errand of Mercy"
"Operation--Annihilate!"
"Catspaw"
"Metamorphosis"
"Friday's Child"
"Who Mourns for Adonais"
"Amok Time"
"Wolf in the Fold"
"The Changeling"
"The Apple"
"The Deadly Years"
"Journey to Babel" (Sarek's age is given as 202 in "Sarek". He was 102 in 2266.)
"The Gamesters of Triskelion"
"Obsession"

2267
4000.00 to 5000.00
Episodes
"The Doomsday Machine"
"I, Mudd"
"The Trouble with Tribbles"
"Bread and Circuses"
"A Private Little War"
"The Immunity Syndrome"
"By Any Other Name"
"Return to Tomorrow"
"The Ultimate Computer"
"Spectre of the Gun"
"Elaan of Troyius"
"The Paradise Syndrome"

2268
5000.00 to 6000.00
Episodes
"The Enterprise Incident"
"And the Children Shall Lead"
"Spock's Brain"
"Is There In Truth No Beauty?"
"The Empath"
"The Tholian Web"
"For the World is Hollow and I Have Touched the Sky"
"Plato's Stepchildren"
"Wink of the Eye"
"Let That Be Your Last Battlefield"
"Whom Gods Destroy"
"The Mark of Gideon"
"The Lights of Zetar"
"The Cloud Minders"
"The Way to Eden"
"Requiem for Methuselah"
"The Savage Curtain"
"All Our Yesterdays"
"Turnabout Intruder"

2269
6000.00 to 7000.00
Episodes
"Day of the Dove" (According to the Klingon Commander Kang, three years have passed since the Oreganian Peace Treaty of 2266. I view this as the last recorded voyage of the USS Enterprise, not the "Turnabout Intruder". Mr. Okuda didn't record this fact in the chronology. And if he did, the voyages of the USS Enteprise would have
been six years-2264 to 2270 as he placed "Errand of Mercy" in 2267.)

2272
"The Motion Picture"

2286
"The Wrath of Khan"
"The Search for Spock"
"The Voyage Home"
"The Final Frontier"

2293
"The Undiscovered Country"

So, you're saying that TOS lasted over 6 years!? Plus The Cage and the movies?
Interesting, theory.
I have no problem with it.

target: How did you get the date for STII through STV? I find that period hard to place. I remember that Khan says how long he's been exiled in TWoK but I can't remember the period. Was it 10 or 15 years or something? Anyway, the figure would give the date of TWoK in relation to "Space Seed".

But your Chronology also puts it at six years (just). Which conflicts with the "% years out there" line from TMP.

I tihnk the dates he's used for the movies are the chronolgy dates.

And I have to go with Mr Okuda putting a significant amount of time between "Where no Man has gone before" and "The Corbonite Mavuever". It allows for the unifroms changing, and the various rank and position changes that happen. Plus the obvious refit.

And, to be blunt, you can't just use the TNG time system for TOS without significant changes. For one, if 41000 is 2364, then 2264 would take place on Stardate -59000.

And about the three years passing since the Organian peace treaty. first, people tend to round figures up and down. Errand of Mercy was very early on in 2267. Day of the Dove could have been late 2269. 2 years and 8 months would be rounded to 3 years.
Also, Kang could have meant Klingon yeasrs (ah, that old excuse).

Er, Blank Knight "PLus the cage and the movies". Plus the Cage and the Movies what? Took place?

Well, Klingon years are apparently somewhere around one-and-a-half Terran years, so I don't think you want to use that excuse...

Maybe the translator wasn't correct when it said it at the time, due to an incomplete knowledge of Klingon, and what Kang actually said was a different date.

Well, if that's the case, let's just claim that anything anyone's ever said on screen was mistranslated, and there's never been a single continuity error because no-one ever really said what we thought.

I just meant 6 years for the series, not including "The Cage, and the movies."
