Okay, how many pictures of the starships do we have? And how many more should we expect if we keep on nagging people who worked on the episode?

Very well, I will add two points to the re-blossoming debate:

1. I find it odd that we didn't see existing models battle-damaged in the graveyard - only models which were severely damaged on purpose. I guess they wanted to show only *really* damaged ships, adding to the effect that the Borg were really nasty. At that time, they couldn't do really big damage to the models and be able to clean them up for re-use.

2. Given the NCC numbers of the First Contact ships, it seems logical that there should have been one or more Akira or Steamrunner at Wolf 359 (especially given the really large numbers of them we see in DS9). Of course those models didn't exist at the time of BOBW, but regardless we didn't see any. Rationalize.

Excelsiors in Spacedock in ST:IV

This is somewhat off-topic, but in the 12 pages of the Wolf 359 post there were several mentions of there possibly being more than one Excelsior class ship in the spacedock in ST:IV. Well, I just checked the widescreen laserdisc and
following is a complete list of shots showing the spacedock interior.

1: Shot from spacedock control room showing Excelsior and spacedoors as power starts going off. No other ships visible.

2. Shot of spacedock interior. Excelsior can be seen to screen left behind one of the arms of the spacedock central hub, along with the space doors. Two shuttles fly near the center. A Miranda class ship is to the screen right. Power dies on everything.

3. Travel Pod carrying Kirk and Co. follows a shuttle through the spacedock, traveling over the engine of a Constitution refit (it ain't a Miranda). At screen left in the background part of an Oberth class ship can be seen.

4. View from Travel Pod window. Another Constitution refit nacelle at screen left, complete with the upper end of the pylon.

5. Tracking shot behind shuttle as it sweeps in on Excelsior. No other ships shown.

6. Pass over Excelsior to see 1701-A. No other ships shown.

That's it. I would say in both items 1 and 2 we're seeing the Excelsior, first from the control booth, then from across the dock.

Hmm, interesting sightings, any chance of screencaps of the Miranda, Oberth and constitutionrefit-parts?

Here's the rundown:

Kyushu: Model pics from the Encyclopedia & ST Mechanics.

Ahwahnee: Model pics from the trading card & Okuda.

Chekov: Model pics from Okuda, Gary Perry, and Paul Somebody (I don't remember his last name off the top of my head; I'll edit this post once I do.)

Melbourne: Model pics from Miarecki, Markus Nee, Gary Perry, and me!(the pic from Emissary)

Buran: Model pic from Gary Perry; who will hopefully furnish us with a clearer one soon.

Princeton: Model pic from Masaki Taniko.

Excelsior Study models 1,2&3: 1 & 2 from The Art of Star Trek, 3 from Okuda.

Phase II Enterprises: pics from The Art of Star Trek.

Firebrand: The only Wolf 359 ship without a model pic yet.

Gage: I truly believe a model for this ship was built for the unused battle scene in Emissary, but we have no way of knowing for certain. I'm going to post a separate thread about this later.

If I've forgotten anyone or any ship, please post!

Did anyone try contacting Rob Legato about his Starship work in 'Emissary' for the alternate (and I was going to type ultimate) version of Wolf 359, if he DID try to copy what had been seen in BOBW (now THAT'S the type of continuity we like to see *ahem Brannon Braga*) Surely he has reference material, and I gather he did a final version... I wonder if he takes images/working shots of his work!?!

I tried doing an email search on the name Robert Legato. I found two in California, so I emailed them both to see if either person was the one I was looking for. The first email address turned out to be invalid, and I never got a reply from the other guy. And yes, I did ask Okuda if he knew his email or if he was in contact with Legato. No such luck.

Heres a site that has some extensive research on what was at Wolf 359. Kinda interesting. http://www.uni-siegen.de/~ihe/bs/startrek/articles.htm

Surely a man like Rob Legato - being tech man and everything would have an e-mail addy... I guess maybe it could be a matter of narrowing down the search parameters...

Maybe some recent movie work... he did win the Academy Award for his work on Titanic didn't he?
