Was the Enterprise scheduled to rendezvous w/the Potemkin, or what? How was it mentioned?

Thanks,

The Alan Dean Foster novelization has it like this: the Potemkin has a supply of the medicine Spock needs, but the ship is busy. So it transfers the stuff to the freighter Huron, which is then pirated by the Orions before it can rendezvous with the Enterprise. The name "Potemkin" is thus only uttered in a brief expository speech (a Captain's Log?) at the beginning of the story.

However, I don't trust Foster's novelizations much. And even Curt Danhauser's excellent TAS site doesn't seem to provide better detail...

"Captain's log, supplemental: We have arranged to get the strobolin needed to save Mr. Spock's life. The starship Potemkin has already picked up the drug and will transfer it to a freighter, the SS Huron, for delivery to the Enterprise."

Thanks, TSN. That's from the ep, not the novel, right?

Wait a minute...'S.S. Huron'???

[Confused]

That was in the dialogue? So that's where it originated... [Roll Eyes]

Damn I wish I had TAS tapes to refer to. [Mad]

Yes, it's from the episode. And the ship, despite saying "USS HURON" on the hull, is referred to as "SS Huron" by both Kirk and the Huron's captain.

Would you happen to know if the Ariel from "The Eye of the Beholder" was also called 'S.S.' in the dialogue?

Nope. Just "Ariel".
