Hi I'm a newbie, well in one way.
I've lurked here once and blue moon.

Now I'm gonna be around here quite a bit!

About ME- We to make it quick, I'm a big Fan of Transformer Toys and collect them.

But I also LOVE Star Trek Universe!

And I'm looking for Ship Charts?!?!?!
Any and ALL!

Another question I have is Where can I find info on the Dysons Sphere?? Not sure on spelling?
Me and Friend are trying to figure out how much material was needed to make such a Object?!?!

And once again HEllo everyone!

Merry Christmas and welcome to the Forums!

For charts, check out http://www.ex-astris-scientia. Or try this: http://flare.solareclipse.net/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=6;t=002060

I don't know about Dyson spheres. But there's probably something out there, especially since Dyson spheres aren't a Star Trek invention.

I once read an article somewhere about Dyson Sphere's where it stated that there was enough material in this solar system to build one out of diamond that would be one centimetre thick. Can't for the life of me remember where that was, though...

I would shamelessly plug my site, but the damn domain name, www.starshipdatalink.com is down. It can still be accessed by www.lcarscom.net/fsd/index.html When I get home in a couple days I need to fix that.

I don't exactly have a comparsion chart, but I'd like to think I have quite a bit of handy info.

I'm slightly annoyed at Hobbes' rather rude decision to be much more attractive than me though. That's just rude. - PsyLiam, Oct 27, 2005.

Try this...

A significant quote...

The only ways to make a rigid Dyson shell habitable on the inside would be either to provide it with some sort of antigravity (which is unlikely) or to rotate it, which would make only the equatorial band habitable unless the interior was terraced. A rotating dyson sphere would be under immense strains; see the section about the ringworld for a simple calculation. Niven pointed out that if you want to spin a Dyson sphere, it is better to build it like a film canister for reasons of structural strength, and then you have a Ringworld.
