I just thought you creative types might want to try this. It is a personal learning edition of Maya software. This is the software hollywood is using for stuff like LOTR and Star Wars. I saw the link to that posted at a "new software" site that I check regularly. Unfortunately, I don't have (1) enought time to devote to something like that, and (2) a powerful enough computer (though technically they say that I can run that program on a G3 processor, it's not supported except on a G4.)
Maybe when I win the lottery and retire at age 22?

You're only 22!!! I'd gained the impression that you are a bit older than that.
As for the specs - I've only got 256MB RAM and I ain't spending anymore money on this pile of shit after just one year and 12 months of problems - might save and get a totally new system . . .

Then it'd still be a waste of money. Apple may feel it has the best hardware for 3D graphics, but I would NOT want to use a G4 for heavy-duty rendering. Sure, they're in the lead (barely) where performance is concerned, but those CPUs are running on their last legs and carry a hefty pricetag. You don't nearly get enough bang for your bucks.

Actually, I'm 21... I figured I wouldn't retire right away.
I was going to point out that my profile says I'm a student at the University of Delaware, but that's not a definitive indicator of age. I'm still an undergrad...

For those more discerning chaps amongst you, the discovery version of Lightwave has also been released, you can order it from their site at www.newtek.com or at www.lightwave3d.com and join the ranks of real men! However, like Maya it will watermark all the images you create and limit the size of the models you make. It is however, a bit easier to work than Maya and every bit as powerful. Can't hurt to try it now, can it?
